NewsNation reporter arrested during press conference on Ohio train derailment 02/09/2023

This is not okay! The guy was going live because he'd been waiting 2 hours for a press conference to start and it was time for his live hit. He wrapped it up quickly but the police arrested him for doing his job as a journalist.
Credit to DeWine's office for saying that this was wrong and shouldn't have happened. Too bad someone on site couldn't have stopped the local police from committing this egregious first amendment violation in the first place.

Feels like I wrote similar stories about Title IX failures at colleges many years ago. This system just never seems to improve.

What to know about Ohio State Issue 1 on November ballot 09/20/2022

Make sure you read up on Issue 1 before voting in the upcoming election.
TLDR: The Ohio Supreme Court previously struck down excessive cash bail as unconstitutional.
Republicans supporting Issue 1 say the amendment allows courts to consider public safety, among other factors, when setting the financial conditions of bail.
Democrats opposing Issue 1 say judges can already consider public safety when assigning bail and the amendment would continue a system that discriminates against the poor and disproportionately people of color.

What to know about Ohio State Issue 1 on November ballot Ohioans will vote this fall on a constitutional amendment to restore the use of bail to prevent defendants from being released from jail before trial.
