Help Ohio Tattoo Pioneer Marty Holcomb and His Family in Their Time of Need

Today, I want to take a moment to honor a man who has had a profound impact on the tattoo community, especially here in Ohio. Marty Holcomb is not just a pioneer in our industry, but a true artist whose work has inspired countless tattooers, myself included. He was a significant influence on me as I was coming up in the 80s and 90s, and his artistry and dedication to the craft have left an indelible mark on our community.

Marty tattooed my mentor, Glenn Scott, and through that connection, I’ve always felt a deep respect and admiration for the work Marty has done over the decades. His commitment to his art and to pushing the boundaries of what tattooing could be has influenced so many of us who followed in his footsteps.

Sadly, Marty’s family is facing a difficult time. His beloved wife has suffered a stroke, and Marty will be stepping away from his work to be by her side, providing the care she needs. As we all know, stepping away from work comes with its own set of challenges, especially when unexpected medical expenses are involved.

Now, it’s our turn to give back to someone who has given so much to us. A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover their expenses during this challenging time. If Marty’s work has touched you in any way, or even if you’re just a casual fan of the art form, I encourage you to consider contributing. It's Throwback Thursday time!! These pictures date back to around 2003 and feature tattoos done by our very own Rev. Chad Wells between 2000 and 2003 on client Angie Mitchell. Angie's sleeve and chestpiece were heavily published in the early 00's in magazines like Tattoo, Tattoo Savage, International Tattoo Art and in several books of tattoo photography. Angie also travelled to numerous conventions and won several trophies for Rev's work.

Rev. Chad Wells has been a professional Tattoo Artist since 1993 (he began an apprenticeship with the legendary Glenn Scott in the winter of 1992).
