Welcome to Energizing Wellness' page. I am a Clinical Nutrition Specialist* practitioner that is hoping to promote wellness & nutrition education.

Welcome, I am a functional nutritionist who specializes in teaching those to energize their wellness by eating real foods and providing movement. I am currently not seeing clients 1 on 1 however I am actively added content. I am also on staff at the Institute for Functional Medicine as a clinical content coordinator. Check us out at IFM.org.

Kids lunch edition. This is how packs her kids lunch. Now both my kiddos don’t have any specific allergens or sensitivities but this is all organic and budget friendly.

Hormone Balancing Oatmeal
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup walnuts
1 tbs flax seeds
1 tbs pumpkin seeds
1 tbs h**p seed
1 scoop orgain vegan vanilla protein powder
1 tbs sun butter
5 Brazil nuts
1/4 apple
Flax and pumpkin seeds are for female hormonal seed cycling and Brazil nuts are for extra selenium for the thyroid. C-58g P-34, F-52
We are also carb cycling with SLAM this winter challenge, so this would be a higher carb day after a heavy workout!
Who says oatmeal is boring??

Well hello there day 3 of a fasting mimicking diet!
It’s HUMP day!!
And honestly it’s been a good day. Good energy in the morning. Slight dip in the afternoon that was resolved with a 20 minute nap. (Check out the Matt Walker podcast for nap questions) then great evening every, had a dance party with the kiddos and played hide and seek.
We’re in the golden phase- the autophagy, the losing weight from fat phase🥳🥳

What I’m learning the most this week is that I need to stop being a garbage disposal of my kids food. My inner nana says that we need to clean the plates, but do we really? I’ve had my dinner, why do I need to clean off my kids plates? Am I our neighborhood raccoon scavenging for scrapes- NO! Don’t be a raccoon and don’t be a garbage disposal. 🦝🦝
Alrighty I’m hopeful that tomorrow will be just as good. Let’s do this!!!

Well hello there day 2 of a fasting mimicking diet!
So I hope you know that even nutritionists have bad habits, this past December I saw all of them- too much sugar🍪 too much alcohol 🥃stress eating, and a bad mindset😒
(In December I basically told myself, it’s okay I’m working out and had no moderation in my cookies with my coffee, I’m a duncker)

Well 2023 is a new year, and I try to lead by example so we are doing a 5 day Prolon(FMD) followed by an elimination diet. And by we I mean my hubs and I.
We both have some weight to lose, I don’t have a scale but our clothes are a TIGHT. More importantly I have diabetes in my family history and he has Alzheimer’s in his, both that can be prevented by DIETARY MODIFICATIONS. 🥦🥥🥑

So here goes a FMD, which can be used as a metabolic reset. And boy I hope so, I’m greeting my yearly labs done at the end of the week.

Twas the night before Christmas and all the littles were tucked in, while mommy and daddy finally get a little relax. Don’t let your shi++we be full this Christmas. Enjoy the little moment between the crazy and most of all enjoy the magic seen by a kiddos face on Christmas morning.

So thankful this year for so many things but especially my 2 little turkeys. So in full disclosure I got to hang out with a lot of family and lost my phone for most of thanksgiving and then I got some kind of stomach flu after Black Friday shopping. So I am only posting something a few days later. But hey, that’s life. Let’s enjoy all the little things and be grateful for everything that we have and that’s not seen on the gram. Life is real and we’re living in it fantastically.

Now I’m not huge into counting calories, and calories in should not equal calories out BUT just it does all add up. Try to add in some simple movement or enjoy a beautiful fall day walk to work off those Reese’s. Then focus on n your clean eating the rest of the day.

Adventure is out there, especially with toddlers. Today we found dinosaur footprints (leaves) and looked for crocodiles. Take time to enjoy the little things and see the world through a 3 year old eyes. You’ll be surprised at what they teach you.

This powerful root is know for its medicinal properties for aiding skin health, liver stagnation, interferes with cancer cell growth, blood purification, digestion and so much more!!

Hey don’t you dare throw away those seeds after carving a pumpkin!
Pumpkin seeds are packed with many nutrients and make for a taster snack. They are a great source of protein and unsaturated fats. They are also high in magnesium which will help with blood pressure, bone health, and sleep.
Best way to eat them is to clean the seeds throughly. If you soak them in water most of the pumpkin flesh comes off. Then you can boil them for 2-4 minutes to really clean them, but this is optional. Dry the seeds. Then place on parchment lined trays in a single layer. Cover with light avocado oil and season as desired. Roast at 325 for 10-20 minutes. Turning them over halfway through. The cooking time really depends on how many seeds you have so watch them carefully.

* For a savory snack, try tossing the pumpkin seeds with a few teaspoons of chili powder, curry powder, or herbes de provence, old bay, garlic salt, etc.
* For a sweet-and-salty twist, try a dusting of pumpkin spice blend or cinnamon and sugar.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies - with Almond Flour 🎃
**Cooking with toddlers edition.*** Max wanted to help me bake some cookies so we did. What could go wrong, batter all over the counter, dog ate a few chocolate chips and toddler fell off the counter (he’s fine just learned not to play on the counter)

End result- Gluten free, low sugar Fall deliciousness. And a happy family because I baked with ❤️
And just a touch of sass- the hubs swears the formed cookies taste better than the 💩 blob cookies. 🤦‍♀️ but same batter.

Ingredients
* 1 egg
* 1/3 cup smooth almond butter unsweetened
* 1/2 cup organic pumpkin puree
* 1/2 cup organic coconut sugar
* 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
* 2 1/3 cups blanched almond flour
* 1 tsp baking soda
* pinch fine grain sea salt
* 1 tsp ground cinnamon
* 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
* 1/2 cup Enjoy Life brand dark chocolate morsels*

So last week I’m prepping the meals for the week, the grocery haul and I have out my Whole30 book. The hubs starts flipping through the pages and goes this looks interesting. Let’s do this… and I smile and go sure honey.
Enter evil laugh… MAUHAHA… my plan is working. Plant seeds and watch them grow, little does he realize we eat a very plant forward whole 30ish meal all along, but now that it was “his” idea he’s been sending me recipe ideas. Let’s just say winning!!!
