Bethune-Cookman University Criminal Justice Students travel to South Africa! They had the unique distinction of being the first group of American university students to participate in a ground-breaking program, as well as the first HBCU to receive this specialized training. This endeavor was planned, in part, by B-CU's Criminal Justice Department. Three years in the works, this trip is part of the Department’s broader mission to develop a Certificate in Criminalistics/ Crime Scene Investigation. Remembering Bethune-Cookman’s Magnolia B. Jackson ’44
Bethune-Cookman University remembers alumna Mrs. Magnolia Bradley Jackson ’44, who passed on May 25, 2024. Born in 1918, Mrs. Jackson had a distinguished career as a school teacher and principal and was the university’s oldest living alumna at 106. Wildcats everywhere celebrate her remarkable life and lifelong dedication to Bethune-Cookman. Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. May her soul rest in peace.

Wildcat Report: Celebrating Heritage & Reopening Traditions
In the latest edition of the Wildcat Report, the campus and community came together in a joyous celebration of Black history on February 21, marking our first major in-person observance since before the start of COVID-19. North Carolina A&T State University’s Henry E. Frye Distinguished Professor of History and the Director of the Center of Excellence for Social Justice, Dr. Jelani Favors, delivered empassioned remarks celebrating and honoring the rich legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities and their contributions to the American tapestry. Just days before, Cub Paradise, the fine dining restaurant owned and operated by students in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship, celebrated its grand re-opening. Members of the local Daytona Beach community gathered to feast on delights of the cajun Mardi Gras themed menu and celebrate the extraordinary talent of the students in the Hospitality and Management Systems program.

In the latest episode of the Wildcat Report: Bethune-Cookman University's Women's Advisory Board transformed the Michael & Libby Johnson Center for Civic Engagement's President's Banquet room into a vibrant canvas of creativity and unity as they celebrated Valentine’s Day together — and they raised $10,000 for student scholarships along the way! On the other side of campus, the inaugural Lead Like Mary Student Leadership Institute drew more than 600 students who gathered to strengthen their servant-leadership skills. Students were charged with developing their leadership styles with purpose, pride, and with a profound sense of responsibility bequeathed unto us by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. It is a lesson to carry not just within the halls of B-CU, but also beyond, into the community and the world—and one for all of Wildcat Nation to embrace.

In this edition of the Wildcat Report, Acting President William Berry, Ph.D., extends greetings on behalf of Bethune-Cookman University to a gathering of 200 Volusia County Public School employees, supporters, and school board members, thanking them for their continued support of higher education. B-CU senior, Sabrina Petit-Homme shares a powerful testimony on the positive impact of the scholarship on her life, thanking God for putting the United Negro College Fund in her path. She emphasizes that the opportunities she has experienced would not have been possible without it. Next, witness the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats take on the Alcorn State Braves in men’s basketball showdown, live on ESPN 2. Adorned in white as a show of their support for the Wildcats, B-CU students joined by other spectators were on the edge of their seats in the nail-biting loss to Alcorn State. Still, the atmosphere of support and community in Moore Gymnasium reflects that at Bethune-Cookman we are more than a University; we are a family.
