When geometrical solids took hold of the Renaissance imagination, they promised the quintessence of the third dimension in its pure and unadulterated form. In his essay “The Polyhedral Perspective”, Noam Andrews discovers how polyhedra descended from mathematical treatises to artists’ studios, distilling abstract ideas into objects one could see and touch.

The 1954 film Creature from the Black Lagoon was filmed in multiple locations in Florida and California, including:
Wakulla Springs, Florida: The fictional black lagoon was filmed here, one of the world's deepest freshwater springs
Silver Springs, Florida: Scenes were filmed here for the sequel, Revenge of the Creature
Jacksonville, Florida: Scenes were filmed here for the sequel
Marineland, Florida: Scenes were filmed here for the sequel
Universal Studios, California: Scenes were filmed at the backlot in Universal City
The film's natural setting of Florida's waterways provided the ideal backdrop for the Amazon Rainforest setting.
In 1953, Life Magazine dispatched a photographer to capture behind-the-scenes moments of "Creature From The Black Lagoon." Despite their vibrant Technicolor quality, these photos never saw the light of day in print. However, one image from this forgotten collection has resurfaced, offering a unique glimpse into the making of this iconic film.

I didn't know book stores existed until I was about 12 or 13 years old. I still remember most of the books I would keep checked out of the library because I did not want to return them. The books I got to keep were on the library sale rack. I remember most or all of them. I honestly do not remember the names of many or most of my teachers.
Judge people by how they treat animals but especially judge them by how they teach children to treat animals.

Whoever is manning the sound booth at Riverfront Esplanade this morning must have just scored crack and wants to share their Joy with the world by cranking their crappy pseudo jazz music even louder than yesterday to an empty park. Nothing goes together like inconsiderate and bad taste in a neighbor 💯
The Dalí Museum is safe🖤

Remembering American jazz musician Miles Dewey Davis III (26 May, 1926 – 28 September, 1991) who died on this day in 1991, aged 65. His death was attributed to the combined effects of a stroke, pneumonia, and respiratory failure.
An eight-time Grammy Award winner, having received thirty-two nominations, in 2006, Davis was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which recognised him as "one of the key figures in the history of jazz."
Rolling Stone magazine described him as "the most revered jazz trumpeter of all time, not to mention one of the most important musicians of the 20th century"; while essayist and cultural critic Gerald Early called him "inarguably one of the most influential and innovative musicians of that period."
