My most frequently asked question is "How many points can you raise my score?" Well, that's an impossible question to answer. There are too many factors that go into compiling your credit score.
I get 3 types of clients. The 1st is someone who has open revolving accounts such as credit cards and loans. They make all their payments on time and keep the balances low. They are already buliding their credit and just have a few old accounts they would like to try to remove so they have better approval odds. These clients see the most increase in their scores. The 2nd is those who have fell on hard times, have lots of missed payments, most of their accounts have been charged off or closed and they have lots of negative they would like to try to remove. In this instance we would need to dispute all of the negative accounts and late payments and try to clean their report as best as possible and get them some new accounts open to start building their credit. This type of client it would take longer to see the maximum score increase because they need to work on building credit while I'm working on removing old debt. The 3rd type is the client that has little or no credit. They only have a few collections but no real accounts that they've ever had to build credit with. This type of client takes the longest to see a score increase. Don't get me wrong removing negative will raise their score however, when they don't have any credit it can't go up that much. In this instance they need to open some accounts like a secured credit card or another credit building program to start building credit while I'm disputing their collections. They will see their score increase over a few months once they have some accounts open and the negative is gone each month when they make their payments as long as they pay on time and keep their balances low they will see their score increase every month. The one thing all three of these clients have in common is that with a little work on their part and following the steps that I have laid out for them they will all be on the road to better credit!

Did you know that there are five factors that help determine your FICO score?
Payment history makes up 35% of your score.
Credit utilization makes up 30%.
Length of credit history makes up 15%.
Total accounts make up 10%.
Credit report inquiries make up 10%.
Keep all these factors in mind each month while attempting to build your credit. Be mindful of the balances you carry over each month and be sure to make all of your payments on time.

1. Become an authorized user on your parents' account.
2. Open up your own credit card. Get the right credit card for you. Pay attention to interest rates and fees.
3. Use the credit card for occasional, small purchases.
4. Avoid big-ticket buys, except in case of emergency.
5. Pay off your balance each month.
6. Pay all your other bills on time.
