The Smith Residence is a shining example of architect Donald Wexler’s desert modernism.
Situated in Palm Springs, California, Unites States, and completed in 1964, it is one of a number of homes that Wexler built in the area, where he worked almost exclusively.

The architect had to tailor his Palm Springs’ houses for the harsh desert, conscious of the effect this extreme climate had on the overall atmosphere in the home. Rather than using natural materials, which require greater levels of maintenance, he primarily used inorganic materials, such as glass, steel and concrete. Completed in 1952, and restored in recent years by , the Bendit House offers an interesting glimpse of mid-century design on the cusp of taking off in America. Situated just outside Houston, Texas, in the neighbourhood of Ayrshire (a subdivision in the Houston suburb of Breswood Place), and originally built for the Bendit family by Lars Bang, the house still displays some strikingly individual detailing. A Eichler Classic

This stunning Eichler home was bought by two lifelong mid-century furniture collectors to house their enormous collection. Built in California in the 1950s, it’s a typical mid-century Eichler house situated in a peaceful suburban neighbourhood of San Rafael. Thanks to its owners, it has been preserved to near perfection until today.

The building’s present owners, Mark Neely and Paul Kefalides, moved all the way from New York to California to set up a new life after they struck gold with this Eichler original.
