Today, on the International Day Against Nuclear Tests, we are reminded of the critical need to advocate for peace, security, and the well-being of all communities.

The threat of nuclear weapons looms large, not just due to the ongoing Israeli genocide and their blatant disregard for international law and human rights, but also as a chilling backdrop to the ongoing atrocities in places like the Congo, Sudan, and even against the Uyghurs in China.

These crises, alongside others across the globe, reflect a world where the most vulnerable suffer under the shadow of unchecked power and violence. The United States, with its history of deploying nuclear weapons in its pursuit of global domination through imperialism, colonization, and its industrial military complex, serves as a stark reminder of the catastrophic consequences of such actions.

At Davidโ€™s Coalition, our advocacy extends beyond mental health care; it encompasses the fight for a world where every person can live free from the threat of violence, oppression, and the horrors of nuclear warfare.

With a heavy heart, Davidโ€™s Coalition must announce a temporary shift in our focus due to a lack of funding and resources. ๐Ÿ’”

While this decision was not made lightly, we believe itโ€™s crucial to concentrate our efforts where they can have the most impact right now.

For the time being, our focus will be on advocacyโ€”working diligently to meet with local and congressional legislators to bring our Mental Health Equity Act to life. This act is designed to ensure equitable access to mental health care for all, regardless of socioeconomic status. Weโ€™ll be pushing for systemic changes that address the root causes of mental health disparities, advocating for better funding, more resources, and comprehensive support systems.
