Come to our final Christmas concert of the season tomorrow!

Vanguard Voices was formed in 1992, building upon the long choral tradition of the Dearborn Choral Arts Society and the Oratorio Society of Dearborn. Under the direction of G. Kevin Dewey, the group set as its goal to seek out and perform the best in contemporary and traditional choral music and to present the best performances possible. The group is an auditioned mixed choir of 65 members from throughout the Metropolitan Detroit area.

Repertoire has included grand choral works from the Classical, Romantic and Modern eras, as well as Gregorian chant, Renaissance motets, international folk songs, opera choruses, contemporary works and jazz standards. The group has performed a ca****la, with orchestra or with its own Vanguard Brass Ensemble. Over the past several seasons, Vanguard Voices has enjoyed a productive collaboration with the Dearborn Symphony as well as productions with the DSO and many other renown individuals and organizations.

Vanguard Voices was honored to accept an invitation to compete at the prestigious Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in North Wales in 2001, where it placed second in the Mixed Choirs category.

With the recent opening of a new home performance venue in Dearborn, the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, Vanguard Voices' horizons have expanded.

Vanguard Voices is sponsored by the Dearborn Recreation Department and is choir-in-residence at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, from whose Music Department director G. Kevin Dewey retired in August 2023.

Vanguard Voices actively seeks new members in all voice sections. Open rehearsals for all interested singers are held in early September and early January of each concert season. You are welcome to join us on those occasions to meet our artistic director and our members, sing along with us and learn about our concert season.

Those singers who wish to pursue membership in Vanguard Voices can schedule an appointment for an audition after the open rehearsal. Auditions are held with the artistic director. New members typically join the group in September and January of each year.

Rehearsals are Thursdays, 7:00pm - 10:00pm.

To sprinkle a little extra museum magic before the festivities begin, we will close our doors early at 4 p.m. to prep. But fear not: We will re-open at 5 p.m. for an evening of festive fun. From performances with the Mosaic Youth Theater to a visit from the man with the merry laugh himself, Santa Claus - you don't want to miss it! 🎅

Vanguard Voices is an adult mixed choir based in Dearborn. The auditioned group, whose members’ experience ranges from music professionals to dedicated amateur choristers, holds weekly rehearsals in preparation for a season of three to six concerts. We are performing a special concert version of Dearborn community favorite Steven Errante's "The Boar's Head Festival" on December 9 with Dearborn Community Chorus and special guest Dearborn Chamber Orchestra, and are raising funds to pay the orchestra for our two concerts.

Vanguard Voices, directed by G. Kevin Dewey, will begin rehearsals for Fall Session on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 7pm - 9:30pm.
Please Note that the first two rehearsals on September 21st and 28th to be held in Studio A at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center,15801 Michigan Ave., Dearborn, MI 48126.

From October 5th and after all rehearsals will be held in F-113 (Choir Room) located at the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center (Building F; park in lot 9 or 10) at the Henry Ford College, 5101 Evergreen, Dearborn, Michigan 48128.
Concert attire is uniform dress for women, tuxedo for men.

Performances are the Holiday Choral Festival on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 5pm & 7pm in the Michael A. Guido Theater and Festival of Lessons & Carols on Sunday, December 17, 2023 6pm at the Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church, Dearborn.
