Happening Tonight: The primary aim of our Community Service Projects (CSP) is to serve local nonprofits by giving free services like business & growth strategies and other consulting services. Over 50 local nonprofits have been served by the CSP program.

Our Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Georgia Piedmont Technical College's DeKalb Conference Center. Our speakers included Board Chair Marquetta Bryan, '16, and Interim Executive Director Shara Sanders, '17.

At the Annual Meeting, we opened with a recap of our progress on strategic goals and a forecast for the upcoming year. Here are remarks from Interim Executive Director Shara Sanders:

Since beginning the Community Service Projects (CSP) program component in 2014, Leadership DeKalb has partnered with 50+ local nonprofit organizations on a variety of projects.

Join Leadership DeKalb on August 16 for our Virtual CSP Open House via Zoom. Find out more about the CSP program and how your organization will benefit from this service. Selected projects will span from fall to late spring and consist of 20 – 35 consulting hours.

Leadership DeKalb welcomes new board member Adria Welcher, Ph.D., ’21, to its board of directors. Dr. Welcher is the Director of General Education and Associate Professor of Sociology at Morehouse College.

With a tenured background in higher education, Dr. Welcher is very passionate about social justice issues and understanding inequalities. Her primary research interests are race and class inequities in educational outcomes and residential choices. In addition, Dr. welcher has been featured in publications and on two PBS telecasts. She is an active member of the American Sociological Association, the National Academic Advising Association, and the Southern Sociological Society where she is the immediate past chair of the Committee on Racial and Ethnic Minorities. Dr. Welcher’s terms run through 2028.
