This story is one of the main reasons I became a real estate agent. As a stay at home mom, trying to bring in a little extra money, I took a part time job with an investor. He put signs all over town, offering cash for houses. The people who called were often elderly or had fallen on hard times and needed money. More than once, I saw him pay significantly less for homes than I knew they were worth. I couldn’t, in good conscience, continue to work for this man. These guys all take the same seminar. They have the same worksheets. They start out offering 27 cents on the dollar and often turn around and sell it for, sometimes, twice as much the same day.
My goal, as a realtor, is to try to protect these people and prevent them from being taken advantage of by these “wholesalers” or “investors.”
