This morning we held the “Topping Out” ceremony for the new police station. Officers, Council, and community members were able to sign a beam and watch as it was then set in place. We are thankful for the hard work of SEDALCO and Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects. We are excited for the progress and look forward to opening this beautiful facility to the public on August 2, 2025!!

E. Thompson Street will be closed from S. State Street to the entrance to The Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation. This will last approximately 3 weeks as they tie into the new Church Street and make improvements to East Thompson Street.

Huge "THANK YOU" to Easy Street Animal Shelter for helping us out with these 11 puppies! Our ACO took these from a helpful citizen who found them along the highway. Easy Street was able to care for them and will be rehoming them soon.
Welcome back Decatur ISD Eagles!!! We hope everyone is ready for a wonderful school year. We want to take a moment to remind you to drive safe and prepare for increased traffic throughout town, especially near our schools. School zones are active and officers will be taking steps to ensure safety.
We will be conducting a safety drill with numerous training scenarios built in at the High School tomorrow. There will be numerous emergency vehicles in the area, however there is no need for alarm. This is a training exercise only.
The 2 dogs on the left was located at David/Murvil Street yesterday while the dog on the right was found in the 700 blk Cowan.

Congratulations to Officer Baker, Officer Schwabe, Corporal Blankenship and Officer Brimmer for successful completion of the School Based Law Enforcement Master Training.
To obtain the Master SBLE certification officers must take over 128 hours of School Based Law Enforcement training. This training is focused on topics relevant to schools and juveniles, such as procedural justice, FERPA, Standard Response Protocol, leadership, social media, adolescent brain development, and case studies concerning school violence, to name a few. Thank you for your dedication to our community!
