The butcher shop has turned into Jurassic Park today! We have these massive dinosaur ribs available. They are beef ribs that get the same treatment as you would cook any other ribs. They are essentially short ribs that aren’t trimmed down, so you know it’s full of extra flavor.

Giant Trolls Have Come to Ohio and They Are Only an Hour From Columbus - Columbus Underground International artist Thomas Dambo is known for his giant trolls. Now there is a family of them living at the Aullwood Audubon Nature Center.

Ground cherries! We are back from Yellowstone and we will have this garden candy at the Powell Chamber Farmer's Market from 9-12 Saturday the 21st(that’s tomorrow if you see this today). There will also be sweet peppers, ancho peppers, green beans,jalapeños,lemon cucumbers and maybe a few other things.

Now that’s a tomato! Did you know we grow 11 varieties of tomatoes? Mostly heirlooms like the Mushroom Basket in the picture. The other tomatoes are from artisan breeding programs and were bred with open pollination methods. Come and see us at the Hilliard Farm Market tomorrow from 4-7 for these and other yummy surprises

I don’t normally post about dining experiences as we work with a number of stellar restaurants in the Columbus Ohio area. The summer wine dinner at last night needs to be mentioned. They have added a private dining room in the basement that is a welcome twist on the chefs table concept. The dish I have pictured is an “expresso BBQ lamb loin”. Excellent. The wine pairings were spot on which is so much more difficult to accomplish than most realize. Great job guys, you done good.

Well would you look at that. It’s Zucchini time! This is the first of this years harvest. Time for breads, cakes, relish, chutney, throw them on the grill! These bad boys will be with us today Hilliard Farm Market 4-7. Stop and get some!

Squash blossoms aren’t quite ready yet so let’s find a more interesting blossom to cook with. Out House Lilly! More commonly known as a ditch Lilly but an out house Lilly is a much more fun name. Treat them as you would a squash blossom. An egg white wash, dredged in seasoned flour and then fried. Or.... 8 oz of goat cheese , 8 oz of cream cheese, mix them together with fresh chopped basil and then pipe them into the blossoms. Seatbelt with tomato sauce or a béchamel ( really) poured over. Get creative, let us know what you do! A lot of receptors call for discarding the reproductive organs of the flower but I love the different flavor and they make a great garnish. We will have them tomorrow morning at the Powell Ohio farmers market, 240 north liberty, 9-12.

Mmmmmmm radishes! What? You’ve never seen radishes that look like this? It’s actually the seed pod. Eat the entire thing. Great radish flavor packaged in a way you won’t see in a grocery store.

It’s back! We haven’t grown this for over 4 years as our last crop failed and the seeds have become nearly impossible to find. Some how we did. We refer to them as T J melons for Thomas Jefferson as we found about them and had the original seeds from Monticello. The flavor, the aroma, the wetness are off the chart good. When they are ready they are ready. The window is roughly 7 days and once we take them off the vine you have three days. Treat this like a fine wine!

Coming soon! Zucchini are on the way. With this rain the blossoms are setting. Hopefully the rain will stop in time for the bees to find open blossoms in the morning. Find us at the Powell farmers market Saturday mornings 9-12 and Tuesday evenings 4-7
