Why you should R E S I S T the urge to pick your skin. 🚫
Picking and popping your pimples might seem like a quick fix, but it's one of the worst things you can do to your skin.
Here's why:
When you squeeze a pimple, you’re not just releasing the visible contents, you’re also pushing bacteria and debris deeper into the skin, which can lead to even more breakouts.
This can trigger an inflammatory response, causing the area to become red, swollen, and more painful. Popping pimples can damage the surrounding skin tissue, leading to scarring and hyperpigmentation.
These marks can take weeks if not months to fade making your skin concerns even more noticeable.
Picking at your skin also disrupts the natural healing process, increasing the likelihood of infection and prolonged healing times.
Here are a few things you can do instead:
Ice your breakouts - icing your skin 2x a day helps reduce inflammation, swelling, and redness and speeds up the healing process.
Use a spot treatment - using a spot treatment with ingredients like sulfur, salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide will also reduce inflammation and kill bacteria helping the breakout to heal faster.
Pimple patches - using a pimple patch will help keep your hands off and create a barrier so you can't pick your skin.
Visit your esthetician - your esthetician can do extractions without damaging your skin using professional tools that are designed for extracting.
I know this is a hard habit to break but please resist the urge to pick your skin.

Feeling frustrated with your acne and can't figure out why it's not getting better? Let's talk about some of the most common mistakes I see and what you can do differently to help manage acne prone skin. You'll be surprised how a few small changes can make such a big difference.
1. Washing your face too often - too much cleansing can strip your skin of its natural oils, causing your skin to produce even more oil which leads to more breakouts. Stick with twice a day, three if your cleansing after your workout.
2. Skipping moisturizer - yes, even oily skin needs hydration. Use an acne safe moisturizer to keep your skin balanced.
3. Using harsh scrubs- physical exfoliants can irritate acne-prone skin. Use a chemical exfoliant like mandelic acid that will gently exfoliate your skin to reducing buildup in your pores.
4. Popping pimples - picking and popping your pimples can lead to scarring and infection. Let the breakouts heal naturally. Ice your skin or use a spot treatment to help speed up the healing process.
5. Not changing pillowcases - your pillowcase collects oil and bacteria and needs to be changed it at least twice a week to avoid transferring dirt and bacteria on to your clean skin.
6. Skipping sunscreen - UV exposure can worsen acne and lead to hyperpigmentation. Look for a broad spectrum SPF or one that contains zinc.
7. Using too many products - more isn’t always better. Stick to a simple, consistent routine to avoid over exfolaiting your skin and damaging your skin barrier.
8. Touching your face - your hands carry a lot of bacteria. Try to keep them off your face as much as possible to reduce the risk of breakouts. Make sure to wash your hands before washing your face.
9. Poor diet choices - high-glycemic foods, sugar, and dairy can trigger acne for some people. Eat a well balanced diet with whole foods, fruits and vegetables.
10. Neglecting your neck and jawline - make sure to thoroughly wash these areas and remove excess cleaner with a clean washcloth.
11. Using makeup with pore clogging ingredients - ditch the heavy foundation and use makeup that is acne safe and free of pore-clogging ingredients.
12. Using dirty makeup brushes and sponges - your makeup brushes harbor dirt and bacteria that can lead to breakouts and clogged pores. Wash your makeup brushes at least once a week and your sponges after each use.
Which of these mistakes surprised you the most? Let me know in the comments.
Save this post as a reminder that clear skin is possible. It requires education and making small changes for big results.
How too much Vitamin B12 could be an unexpected trigger for your acne.
As someone who works closely with clients struggling with acne, I understand how frustrating it can be when a new breakout seems to come out of nowhere.
Let's talk about the link between Vitamin B12 and acne.
Vitamin B12 is essential for our health however, there's a catch - high levels of B12 have been linked to acne breakouts.
How does Vitamin B12 trigger acne?
Here's the science behind it - when you consume high doses of Vitamin B12, it can alter the activity of the bacteria on your skin. Normally, p-acnes bacteria live peacefully on our skin. But when B12 levels spike, this bacterium starts producing inflammatory compounds that can clog pores and trigger acne.
Where does excess B12 come from?
While our bodies only need a small amount, it's common to get more than necessary through supplements and multivitamins. Most multivitamins contain an excessive amount of Vitamin B12, which can lead to serious breakouts. Similarly, many energy drinks contain an excessive amount of Vitamin B12 and are also linked to acne breakouts.
Will my acne clear up once I stop talking B12?
The good news is, Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin and isn't going to linger in your body like other fat-soluble vitamins. Be sure to drink plenty of water and stay consistent with your homecare routine and your skin will start to clear up.
Remember, clear skin is a journey, and I'm here to help you every step of the way. If you have any questions or need personalized advice, feel free to reach out.

Healthy skin doesn't mean perfect skin. It doesn't have a certain look or feel.
Healthy skin simply means your skin is in good health.
Its barrier is strong, well hydrated, projected from the sun, and nourished by a balanced diet.
At KB Skin Studio, our goal is for you to feel confident in your skin, and part of achieving that goal is normalizing the fact that healthy skin isn’t “perfect” skin.
What does healthy skin look like to you? Comment below! 🤍

It's not a secret. 🤫
Glowing skin starts with a good homecare routine.
You get the chance to treat your skin twice a day so make it count. What products you use at home are just as important as what we do in the treatment room.
You don't need a 10-step skincare routine to get great results. Choose a few products and start from there.
If you are new to professional-grade skincare, I recommend starting with the basics and adding products in if needed.
Here are some of my Glymed Plus favorites for different skin types and skin concerns:
1. CLEANSERS -
Normal to Dry Skin - Mega Cream Cleanser, Foaming Cleanser
Oily and Acne-Prone - Idyllic Cleanser, Purifying Cleanser
Combination - Foaming Cleanser

SWIPE left to see what's in and what's out in 2024 - Skincare Edition.
Healthy skin is in and this is your year to get the skin you've been dreaming of. Use this list as a guideline and watch the positive changes you see in your skin. 💫
What are some of your skincare goals for this year? Let me know in the comments.
We have all heard the term, “active ingredients” but what does that actually mean?
"Actives" are the ingredients formulated in skincare products that address the skin concern the product is meant to target. They are the ingredients scientifically proven to have the desired effect, meaning the product will do what it says it will. For example, if a spot treatment claims to "clear up acne" it will contain the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.
Here is a list of the most popular active ingredients and which ones to choose to target your specific skin concerns:
Vitamin C – aging skin, hyperpigmentation, prevention
Retinol – aging skin, hyperpigmentation, acne, texture, prevention
Salicylic Acid – acne, oily skin
Glycolic Acid – aging skin, hyperpigmentation, acne, texture
Lactic Acid – aging skin, hyperpigmentation, dry skin, texture
Benzoyl peroxide – acne, dry skin
Niacinamide – aging skin, hyperpigmentation, texture, prevention
Hyaluronic Acid – aging skin, prevention, dry skin, dehydrated skin
Vitamin E – aging skin, dry skin, prevention
Stay tuned for part two. If you want a personalized skincare routine to target your specific skin concerns, feel free to message me. 🤍

One thing I have learned that has helped me throughout the acne
healing process. 🫶
Be kind to yourself and have patience.
Small progress IS STILL progress, so celebrate the little wins.
It can take up to 90 days for acne to form. If you are doing all of the right things and are still breaking out, please don't give up. It's normal to experience breakouts during the clearing process. Consistency and patience are key!
If you are struggling with acne and have tried everything with no success, you're not alone. I've been there and I'm here to help you achieve clear skin. Feel free to message me directly with any questions. 🤍

Are they blackheads, or are they sebaceous filaments?
How can you tell the difference?
Sebaceous filaments are naturally occurring hair-like formations that channel the flow of oil. They are a natural part of our skin's follicle (pore) structure and everyone has them. If you have oily skin and are prone to clogged pores, you're more likely to notice them compared to someone with drier skin.
A sebaceous filament becomes visible as the lining of your pores fills up with oil and may or may not turn into a blackhead. If the oil in the pore is exposed to oxygen, it will change into a blackhead due to oxidation (darkening of the oil).
When you look at your nose and see dark, small pin-like dots, you're most likely seeing blackheads. If they are clear, grey, or yellow, they are sebaceous filaments.
Is there anything I can do to get rid of them?
Unfortunately, you can't completely get rid of sebaceous filaments, but you can have them extracted or use products to dissolve the oil that is crowding the pore. BHAs like salicylic acid and clay-based products are great for absorbing oils, which will keep your pores clean and help to minimize the appearance of both sebaceous filaments and blackheads.
I hope this helps to clarify! Follow for more skincare tips and clear skin solutions. 🤍

Let's talk about acne scars!
I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to finally get your acne under control and then have to worry about the marks and scars they left behind.
The good news is - there are ways to prevent acne from scarring AND ways to treat existing scars.
PREVENTION:
• Avoid picking or squeezing your pimples. I know this is easier said than done but trust me, you will be less likely to develop a scar if you leave it alone.
• Use a product that contains a tyrosinase inhibitor. This will help slow down melanin production which is what causes the dark marks to appear after the breakout is healed.
• Wear SPF every day to protect the skin from further damage.
• Incorporate antioxidants and Vitamin C into your skincare routine.
TREATMENTS:
• Monthly facials will help to lighten post-acne marks and help them to fade over time.
• Chemical peels work by removing damaged layers of skin revealing smoother, brighter skin.
• ProCell Microchanneling helps to break up damaged scar tissue, helping to rebuild collagen and elastin. This treatment is great for those with more advanced scarring concerns.
• Maintaining a good skincare routine is so important.
Here are a few Glymed Plus products I recommend to help fade existing acne scars:
- Daily Skin Clarifier
- Pigment Brightening Serum
- Radiant Serum
- Vitamin C Serum
- Vitamin C Cream
If acne scars are a concern of yours, I can relate and I'm here to help.

What is the connection between haircare and acne?
When it comes to acne-prone skin, it's so important to check the ingredients of any products that come in contact with your skin.
If you are experiencing breakouts on your forehead, jawline, neck, and upper back, your haircare products may be a contributing factor.
Many popular haircare products contain ingredients like sulfates, silicones, and heavy oils that can be comedogenic, meaning they have the potential to clog pores. Simply put, clogged pores can lead to acne. Acne caused by hair care products will often look like whiteheads or tiny flesh-colored bumps are referred to as acne cosmetica.
How to avoid these types of breakouts:
• Use hair products that are acne-safe and free of pore-clogging ingredients. You can check your products and their ingredients on the Acne Safe app. Simply copy and paste the ingredient list into their search bar, and they will flag any pore-clogging ingredients.
• Keep your hair pulled back and away from your face, especially during workouts and when you are sleeping.
• Wash or change your pillowcases often. Your haircare products leave a residue on your pillowcase and will transfer onto your clean skin.
• When you are in the shower, make sure to wash your face and body after washing your hair to remove any residue left behind.
One of my favorite acne-safe haircare lines is HelloSeen. They make shampoo, conditioner, blowout cream, curl cream, and tons of other great products, plus they have fragrance-free options as well.
Follow for all of your skincare needs. 🤍

How often should I exfoliate?
I get asked this question often. There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to exfoliation. The amount of exfoliation your skin needs depends on your skin type, the products you use, and your environment.
In this post, I talk about the benefits of exfoliation and how often you should exfoliate based on your skin type. I also break down the different types of exfoliation and what ingredients to look for when choosing your exfoliation products.
My favorite Glymed Plus exfolaiting products are:
Peptide Micro Scrub - a physical exfoliator containing corundum crystals to remove dead skin cells leaving your skin smooth and polished.
Beta Gel - lightweight, hydrating serum with 10% glycolic acid that exfoliates the skin and helps accelerate cell renewal.
Radiant Serum - lightweight, hydrating serum containing 1% mandelic acid to gently exfoliate, brighten, and minimizes pores.
Bio Renewal Serum - lightweight facial gel with a tri-peptide complex to revitalize the exfoliation process and refines skin texture.

I wish I had realized this years ago.
Does it matter where I buy my skincare products? Yes, it does, and here are the reasons why.
What is the difference between professional, pharmaceutical-grade skincare and over-the-counter skincare?
Pharmaceutical-grade products pe*****te deeper into the layers of the skin and affect its function and structure. This is achieved by using pure, high-quality ingredients and a high percentage of active ingredients. Per the FDA standard, products must have at LEAST 99% pure ingredients to be considered pharmaceutical grade. These products have gone through vigorous testing and are proven to be effective at treating specific skin concerns.
Products that are sold over the counter are also known as cosmetic-grade skincare. They are made up of lower concentrations of active ingredients, and more fillers and are allowed to have ONLY up to 70% purity. These products claim to provide amazing results, but the ingredients in most of these products are not very effective. For example, if you look at the ingredient list on some of these products, you will notice that the ingredient claiming to "minimize your pores" (niacinamide) is at the bottom of the list. This means there is very little niacinamide in that product and definitely not enough to minimize your pores.
I have tried so many skincare products over the years and have been disappointed so many times. When I started using professional skincare I finally started seeing positive changes in my skin. Investing in professional skincare will provide your skin with visible results, while also helping you achieve optimal skin health.
What professional skincare line do you recommend?
I chose Glymed Plus as my preferred skincare line for my clients due to the incredible results we have seen and the amazing quality of their products. Glymed Plus is certified organic, 99% paraben-free, and free of synthetic fragrances. Additionally, their products are not tested on animals, which aligns with my values and those of my clients.
You can shop Glymed Plus skincare in my studio or by using the link in my bio. 🤍
