“Congratulations! UpDoNa has been awarded funding in the amount of $1500 for your project Clean Upper Downtown through the CALC Micro-Grant Program, a partnership of Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, and Denver Streets Partnership. “
We put that grant money to good use to get signage created, so that our neighbors and tourists know that we are volunteers, not punished trash collectors. We also got new supplies- notice our leaf blower!; and more supplies to be able to continue our 1st Saturday of the month efforts.
We take pride and work together with Downtown Denver Partnership to collect trash from our sidewalks, planters, gutters and green spaces.
We invite you to join us next month September 7 from 9-10a

Our second annual Downtown Denver National Night Out is almost here! Join your neighbors and friends on Tuesday, August 6th, 4:30-7:30 p.m., at Skyline Park 1 to honor those who serve and protect us! Mayor Johnston will be attending again this year! We have food, drinks, demonstrations, games, giveaways, and great door prizes. See you there!
As you may know, Mayor Johnston recently announced plans to invest $500 million in Downtown Denver, much of it being slated for Upper Downtown. It will be funded by a Downtown Development Authority (DDA). A necessary step in the initiation of that DDA is the drafting of a Plan of Development. You can view a draft version of that document by clicking on the following link. https://www.denvergov.org/files/assets/public/v/1/economic-development/documents/dda/amended-dda-plan-of-development-draft-v3-jul10-24.pdf

Denver Resumes Bridge Work on Speer Boulevard to keep City Infrastructure in State of Good Repair
DENVER — A contractor for the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) will start preventive maintenance work this week on a bridge along Speer Boulevard north of downtown, ensuring it provides a smooth and safe ride and also supports the traveling public for years to come.
Denver completed preventive maintenance on two other Speer Blvd bridges last year – one over the South Platte River and one over Little Raven Street. Crews paused for the winter and are now addressing the third and final bridge over the railroad tracks (see attached map).
Starting this week, drivers should anticipate double right lane closures on northbound Speer Blvd between I-25 and Auraria Pkwy and, after the NBA/NHL season, double right lane closures on southbound Speer. In mid to late summer, after work is complete in the right lanes, work will shift to the left lanes and drivers should anticipate double left lane closures on northbound and southbound Speer between I-25 and Auraria Pkwy into fall. At least two travel lanes will remain open in each direction for the duration of the project, anticipated to wrap up in late fall 2024.
Work on the bridge over the railroad tracks includes roto milling and overlaying fresh asphalt over the bridge, removal and replacement of bridge deck waterproofing membrane, bridge deck repairs, removal and replacement of bridge expansion joints, backwall repairs and final striping.
Message boards will be in place to alert drivers. Sidewalk closures will route people to the Cherry Creek Trail as needed. The public’s patience and cooperation are appreciated as this work is critical to keeping our city bridge infrastructure strong and resilient.
People can sign up for project updates by contacting the project’s public information team at [email protected].
Delicious food and drinks at May’s UNO at West Saloon & Kitchen!
Thank you to all the volunteers within our UpDoNa footprint who came out Saturday morning to take pride in our neighborhood.
We saw other individuals from Downtown Denver Partnership, Brooks Towers, Spire and other businesses also out with a broom and dustpan.
At our Spire location we tasked the volunteers to pick up cigarette discards separately so that we could: measure how many, contact businesses for help putting out receptacles, and use the data for project/grant applications.
Join us next time - June 1st 9-10am

If you were able to attend our webinar on Wednesday, March 14th with city and civic leadership entitled “Upper Downtown Denver – Progress and Plans”, we hope you found it valuable. We feel that the event was informative and useful, and it told a lot about why we are seeing such a definite positive trend in Upper Downtown.
We thank the panelists for taking time out to talk to us, especially since they were so busy dealing with the snow emergency. We also thank our partners who all pulled together to arrange the meeting, notably Beth Moyski of Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP) and Stephen Shepard of the Metro Denver Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).
We recorded the webinar, so if you were unable to attend, you can still get the benefit of the valuable information that was provided.
Just click on the following link. It will take you to UpDoNA’s home page. Just scroll down a bit to the “Announcements” section. There, you’ll find directions on how to access the recording using the following passcode.
