Maker of useful ceramic pieces to add life and personality to your home, office or wherever they find a home.
July in photos. I finished my renovation house, went deep on granny squares, watched the new kitties think they’re sneaky, and got a new job with flowers to celebrate. Grateful for every moment.
Kitchen before and afters! I almost forgot how terrible this kitchen was.
5 different colors of paint, terribly distressed floor, no counter work space and zero airflow with no light switch for the main light.
I hope the new tenants find the restored sink and green cabinets as adorably functional as I do.
Welcome to my restored 1920s bungalow!
Painstakingly renovated and restored with as much of its original pieces as possible but with some needed modern niceties to make it home.
Sanding of floors complete! While we wait for the floor sealer to dry, let’s remember what this looked like last November…
My April in pictures
Fennec is so unimpressed with the constant sanding of trim boards. And I’ve only prepped 40% of them 😱
9 weeks. That’s how long it took me to take this bathroom to the studs and build it back up again. With a few days of tiling, emotional support and heavy lifting assists from the amazing and -this was a great first challenge to fist investment property. So what all was done?
✅ new window
✅ new fixtures (sink, toilet and tub)
✅ exhaust fan install
✅ in wall shower and tub faucet
✅ wall and floor tile
✅ repurposed vanity mirror and new light
✅ copious amounts of primer and paint
While I wait for the final pieces of the bathroom to come together, I get to enjoy the reclaimed things I’ve installed in the new room. Like this lion towel holder. A coat of black paint and he was ready for a second life. Anyone else get Labyrinth door knocker vibes?
The second floor. It’s a bonus room because it is accessed from the second bedroom. It’s also needed to have all the wall/ceiling replaced. The stuff was old old old mdf that literally could be pulled off. So that’s what I did! I’ll share the gutted upstairs in a video later.
Y’all. I’ve made some big moves this year. I moved across the country. I took a career break. And I brought my first investment property.
Unsurprisingly, it’s been a past 6 months with very few ceramics studio days. But! I’ve got way less beautiful but no less exciting things to share! Like hurting a bathroom! And finding prosthetic legs and other gems left by time. And you can watch me be continuously dirty, q***r female lumberjack with a tool belt and can-do attitude that I am.
Cause why not? It beats thinking about work.
Back on the wheel after the moving hiatus! Warming up with a day of 3lbs bowls. We’ll see how many survive the trimming and bone dry storage until I get a kiln next year.
Propagation vases are some of my favorites when your plants get too leggy and you want to start afresh.
Pictured: tricolor dracaena after ~8 months in the vase. I think it’s ready for dirt.
I very grudgingly tossed this poor fella in the trash today. I was awoken to my partner cursing as he knocked it to the floor in “both slow motion and too fast to stop”. Maybe someday I’ll be able to recreate it.
