A very kind write up from the Denver Post's John Wenzel about the closing of our parent, El Charrito Bar. We'll have shows every Friday and Saturday (and almost every Wed) until closing day on 12/23. Come see somethin. Help us rage, party and laugh. Let's send this beautiful DIY space off into the ether in style!

El Charrito, Ballpark neighborhood bar and comedy fixture, to shutter in December after 56 years Located at 2100 Larimer St. along a formerly blighted row of historic brick buildings, El Charrito has in recent years been swarmed by upscale restaurants, condos and competing watering holes, while the formerly gritty Larimer Street has transformed into a nightlife hot spot.

We're taking the weekend off from shows this week in honor of High Plains Comedy Festival! To make it up to you we have TWO amazing shows tonight (8/22) with lineups so good we're not even allowed to tell you about them. Lot's of talent in town right now... you never know WHO will show up!

EDIT: Thursday night open mic is still on though, comics come on down!

Congrats to Grafenberg Productions on the shout out in the Westword today! We are so excited for the next stage of life with our little comedy family! Catch em in their new space at the other end of our building soon!

Last weekend Comedy RoomRoom held space for an experimental "comedy debate show” that was originally pitched as a funny and entertaining way to address some serious (and some silly) topics. Due to concerns about language the producer used in the promotion of the event, however, a group of activists attended the show and disrupted the performers. While we do not condone the disruption of a show—hecklers are not welcome at our comedy venue—we recognize the activists’ concerns and we appreciate the spirited discussion that followed.

Comedy RoomRoom was created to offer young comics and producers a space to try out their ideas. Naturally, there will be bumps along the way. We will continue to provide space for many forms of artistic exploration, but we would also like to publicly recommit ourselves to the goal of creating a safe space for all, regardless of race, gender identification, creed, class, religion or strange-sounding laugh. The Denver comedy community continues to be a wellspring of inspiration, and a helpful mirror to our society.

As part of that process, we always welcome feedback on our events through normal channels of communication. The more participation we receive from the community at large, the more respectful and thoughtful we can be while giving a platform to different voices. Thank you for all of your support. Ten Things to Do in Denver for $10 and Under (Six Free) At the beginning of every month, Denver's creative community front loads the calendar with an abundance of appealing events.

Christie Buchele went head to head with Last Comic Standing's Josh Blue. It was a close call, a tight race, a cliff hanger all the way until the end, but the audience dubbed Christie the winner and sent her home with the belt. What a wild night!
