Great Psychedelic Science meeting in Denver last week. The focus was not on “tripping out” rather a discussion of how shamanic and modern psychedelics can more effectively treat depression, anxiety, PTSD etc with often much greater efficacy than SSRIs and other common pharmaceuticals. Maps research has shown enormous success treating Veterans suffering from PTSD with M**A with hopes to become available to therapists and clinicians by next summer. Psychedelics have pitfalls like medications, but used appropriately and legally (coming soon) they will dramatically shift the landscape of mental health and general happiness for those that are willing to take the leap. 12,000 attended, so this is not a small interest group! Thanks to all that contributed to a great meeting!

The FDA will likely approve using a different vaccine for the 6 month booster. I strongly recommend getting a Moderna booster if you received the J&J or Pfizer. The antibodies are much higher as well as efficacy. All of the breakthru infections I have seen have been with Pfizer and J&J. Hopefully anyone can get boosted if at 6 months without restrictions soon too.

I strongly disagree with the FDA decision to limit Covid boosters to selected groups in a phased process. Health care workers on front line cannot even get a booster! I am seeing a fair amount of break-through infections in healthy patients who are fully vaccinated. While these have not led to hospitalizations, the risk of long covid is still about 15%. Why should one have to risk long term health issues when there is a surplus of vaccine with more than enough available for anyone to get a vaccine booster if desired? Also everyone should be able to get a moderna booster which has been shown to be the most effective one available, especially for those who had J&J. Anyway, we should keep it simple like Israel and other countries and allow boosters for anyone who is 6 months beyond the 2nd shot to get one.

Delta Variant updates-
-More aggressive and contagious
-Can rarely elude vaccine, but shouldn't put you in hospital.
-99% of hospitalizations are from unvaccinated and cases are rising, so if you aren't vaccinated, you are at major risk. Benefit/Risk ratio makes it an easy decision.
-I am now wearing a mask again in crowded public places
-May need boosters towards end of year
-Need to kick this virus's ass and not allow it to mutate more in unimmunized folks.
-Stay healthy, keep up with vit d, immune support.
