🌟 Accessibility in Design & Marketing 🌟 a few things to consider...

Contrast - All visual content should have high-enough color contrast to be visible to the most people, ESPECIALLY text. So skip the pastel on white, pink on red, indigo on violet, you get the idea. Subtle design features can be fun, but content everyone can enjoy is even better. You can even check your color combos for ADA compliance with free online contrast checker tools!

Size & legibility - Keep your text clear and your graphics legible, especially when creating elements (like logos) that you'll use in lots of different contexts. Leave the fine print off your main logo and aim for a graphic that'll be clear at any size.

Alt. text & image descriptions - Lots of people use screen readers to consume digital media! Alt. text makes visual content legible for everyone. Add a description to the metadata of images (and captions on social media) simply stating what's depicted. Bonus points for detail and creativity! Don't forget to also keep words and images separate in email and web design. If you do include words in a graphic, that alt. text becomes even more important.

CamelCase - Capitalize words in hashtags, emails and websites! Without spaces, screen readers will default to scrunching those words together, often resulting in nonsense. Capital letters let the software know where the breaks are AND make it easier for folks of all visual and cognitive abilities to read the funky language of the internet.

Captions & transcripts - Tell us what you're telling us! Captions and transcripts make video and audio content accessible to everyone, including the hearing-impaired.

And that's just the beginning! What did we leave out? Share your go-to accessibility tools and strategies in the comments. We're always learning, and there's a long way to go toward true accessibility.

This Disability Pride Month is a great time to add accessibility features to your marketing program. Honor the experiences, challenges and triumphs of the disabled community this July and all year and make your super-fabulous content legible and accessible to all.
