let's just say our LGBTQ+ collection is a bit darker that most.
Cyst & Deceased, a company formed by a youngling who found a safe space in our shop in the 90's and we're so proud to carry their shirts.
" Cyst & Deceased was born from a desire to show pride in the LGBTQIA+ community with designs that meet a darker, heavier representation of the diversity in our community. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows. We exist as creatures of the night and dwellers in darkness, and we deserve the proper representation. My goal is to see everyone in the community being represented and loved. Sharing their pride and finding their tribes, young and old for generations to come.

The New location will have a lot of throwbacks to our history, including a tribute to "Anarchy Alley" from our first location on 13th Ave. the bricks are where we'll feature autographs from our favorite visiting bands. We had Mark Burgess from The Chameleons UK come take a peek at the progress of the construction and he's the first one to sign it up!

pretty cool day yesterday,
Miki from Lush, Lol from the Cure and Budgie from Siouxsie & the Banshees were to stop in before their show at the Bluebird, things fell apart like they do so many times with travel and exhaustion. But the bands still treated us to a cool show, after words they signed up a few boots for our Rockstar Boot Collection. Lol signed up a cool boot years ago and is a treasure in our collection

"Due to the bad weather, U2 scheduled an indoor performance in Boulder the following night for the estimated 9,000 Red Rocks ticket holders who did not want to be inconvenienced by the rain and freezing temperature. However, about one-third of them braved the elements and experienced one of U2's most legendary shows. As promoter Barry Fey said during his introduction of the band, "You're all a part of history!"
tickets stubs are hard to find, they collected them at the second show in Boulder if you went to the Red Rocks show. "
The boys from Echo and the Bunnymen (Will, Mike & Gordy) stopped by the old shop before their sold out show at The Ogden Theatre. Echo's one of our all time favorite bands and we play them almost every day in the shop, this is the 5th time we've hosted them at FashioNation. We swapped them T.U.K. Creepers & Doc's for sweet tickets for the whole crew,
- and 'that's the way the thunder rumbles' đ¤
A super cool addition to our Rock Star Boot Collection. Ladytron!
the band signed this Dr Marten up after coming in the shop before their show at Reelworks. Pretty rad, they included lyrics from our favorite songs in all the autographs!

On a regular old sunday back in about '94 Scott Weiland (stone temple pilots) came through the door carrying a big stack of records. Michael and i were like "what are you doing here"? He said he was back in Colorado 'drying out' with his parents in Evergreen. He said he was at yard sale and scored a bunch of Barbra Streisand records.. wft.. but the most interesting thing is Scott pulled out the sheet music to Stairway to Heaven. It was Wayne's World time and we all busted out "No Stairway" and had a laugh, but he was looking for a Led Zeppelin song to cover for a tribute record. crazy.. He bought a pair of pink pumps for his girlfriends and he was off.
- STP was included on 'Encomium - A Tribute to Led Zeppelin' in 1995, they covered Dancing Days

Our Story
Pam and Paul Italiano started FashioNation in 1987 as a place to hang out with friends, listen to music and âplay storeâ⌠they had no idea this venture would persist and thrive for so long. They are grateful to friends, fans, staffers and customers who have kept FashioNation alive and vibrant for thirty + years!
The doors opened on FashioNation with $1,000 and 40 pieces of clothing. Location has been a major component of our success. Setting up shop at 613 East 13th Avenue in Denverâs Capitol Hill, an area pulsating with Punk and Underground culture â across the street from the legendary Wax Trax record store. Times have changed in Denver and they were forced to move locations settling in at 1594 S. Broadway in 2014
Pam and Paulâs day jobs and moonlighting kept the shop above water for the first five years. Pam worked as a florist in the morning before opening the store, Paul worked the night crew at a grocery store. Both of them promoted the store in nightclubs where Paul DJâd and Pam worked the door. Working in clubs kept them aware of events and trends.
Pam has a keen eye for fashion design and production. A skilled and visionary clothing designer, she hand-tailored most of the clothing for the first few years. Pam and Paul didn't know trade shows offered cool stuff ready-to-buy, so they did their own thing. Clothing lines were acquired as the store progressed, but keeping up with trends proved monstrous. At Fashionation, we don't pay too much attention to what other stores are stocking, ââŚwe just do what we know.â
FashioNationâs âBig Breakâ came during the first trade show Pam and Paul attended in New York City. They crossed paths with a little man named Kuhn Kuhn from India who was living with his family in New York. His booth was full of wild and cool footwear from the UK, but he wasnât a big name and was having a hard time selling his line. FashioNation couldnât afford his shoes, but he recognized sincere admiration for his wares and out of the blue said, âIâll send you shoes and you pay me when you sell them.â He sent thousands of pairs of shoes, and FashioNationâs evolution into a major shoe retailer began. When Dr. Martens came along, Pam and Paul were skilled in the trade and became one of the top independent DM retailers in the nation.
âWe were finally able to focus solely on the store and quit our other jobs.â
A great debt is owed to those who have helped build FashioNation. The âStore Kidsâ (aka âemployeesâ) are truly a part of the âfamily.â There have been only 25 employees over the years, several staying with the staff for over five, ten, and thirteen years! When someone is hired, they are usually referred by part of our team â they know the kind of people needed to maintain excellent customer service in both retail and mail order operations.
FashioNationâs âStore Kidsâ attend clubs and concerts, and are proud to see the merchandise weâve sold âin action.â Dr. Martens are laced with âthe FashioNation Crossâ when fitting customers, so itâs easy to spot them in public: âWeâre proud of what we sell.â
In addition to selling footwear, clothing and unique accessories, FashioNation has always been a promoter of parties, concerts and events that fit our clientele. Local concert promoters frequently bring bands to the store â the list is long and wild, from Lemmy and Green Day, to Ministry and The Cramps.
Paul and Pam canât predict what the future holds, but âWe look forward to the continuing adventure!â
