Member Highlight! Sense of Security fights the financial instability for breast cancer patients in treatment in Colorado through direct financial assistance grants of up to $3,000.

Sense of Security has provided more than $2.2 million toward housing, utilities, groceries, transportation, insurance premiums, and other basic living expenses of breast cancer patients in treatment. Theyhave assisted nearly 2,200 Coloradans living with breast cancer in 56 counties statewide - and counting!

Member Highlight! Karis Community offers a community-oriented transitional living opportunity for people managing serious and persistent mental illness as well as co-occurring substance use disorder. Their mission is to provide a community where people heal together.

The Empowerment Program prepares people to re-engage in the larger community, reduce hospitalizations, and live independently. Karis is one of few organizations nationwide offering a community of belonging, including affordable housing, program staff, and peer-supported therapy. They facilitate the sustainable redistribution of healthy food that would otherwise be wasted to low-income communities, by bicycle. They work with communities to facilitate their own food redistribution and create decentralized systems to bypass barriers to food access. Their work envisions a world in which everyone has equitable access to healthy food.

Member Highlight! Book Trust has the mission of providing all children equitable access to books of choice in order to promote reading motivation and engagement.

In partnership with Scholastic, donors, and educators, the Book Trust program provides students in Title I elementary schools the opportunity to choose and keep their own books—at no cost to their families.

Member Highlight! Colorado Pet Pantry temporarily feeds Colorado pets, allowing families to increase their ability to care for pets with the goal of keeping them out of shelters.

Now, in 2024, CPP is the largest direct-to-client organization of its kind in the US, distributing pet food at 95 monthly pet food banks in 31 Colorado counties and assisting over 100 animal rescues with food and supplies throughout Colorado.

Member Highlight! Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center has been rehabilitating orphaned, injured and sick wildlife, and releasing them back into the wild since 1982. They also operate their own direct programs, from Mobile Pantries to food-support programs for children, older adults, and families facing difficult times.
