As a mom who grew up in foster care, I know firsthand the challenges and struggles that life can throw our way. But through it all, I’ve learned that resilience is our greatest strength. 💪❤️

Today, I’m reflecting on my journey and how it has shaped my mission with 💕💕Becoming GLITTY💕💕to empower my daughters, Kaycee and Skylyn, to rise above their circumstances and chase their dreams.
Kaycee, with her eco-friendly brand HYKAC, is teaching others about sustainability while showing that even young voices can make a significant impact. 🌍💚

Skylyn’s MelaninNGiggles brand celebrates the beauty of Black family bonds and creativity, reminding us all that we can embrace our identities and use our stories to inspire others. ✨

5 years ago I launched GlittybyKelly and did an interview with Voyage Dallas telling my story (my picture got removed because of my logo 🙄🤦🏾‍♀️which is also why I’m transitioning my brand.)

I’m barely a month into even introducing y’all to 💕Becoming GLITTY💕 and only a year of living in Denver and Voyage Denver just reached out to do in interview!!

I went back and forth about wanting to pivot my brand cause I truly do enjoy the 🍃🍃 industry but from simple things like getting my website shut down every other year, not be able to get funding for anything, to moving to a legal city and still seeing it’s a damn whirlwind of laws to deal with. I knew it was my time to take a step back and honestly figure out my WHY!! Playing in glitter and smoking 🍃 was fun but my purpose was and STILL IS bigger than that!!

As I continue to tell my story I want y’all to know it’s never easy but it damn sure doesn’t have to be constant battle!! What’s for you will definitely BE FOR you!! At 💕Becoming GLITTY💕 our mission is to raise awareness about the struggles of growing up in fostercare and empower those who have faced similar challenges. We believe in:

As I continue to share my journey with you, let’s dive deeper into what **Becoming GLITTY** truly represents. You would think that being adopted at 14 by a lawyer and a U.S. Marshal would mean my life was peachy, right? 🍑 But somehow, I found myself homeless and pregnant with my mini me by 19. Life took unexpected turns, and I faced challenges that many wouldn’t imagine.

The reality is that many teens who age out of foster care face similar struggles. Did you know that about 35% of youth who age out of foster care become homeless? 😢 Furthermore, many of these young people battle mental health issues, often stemming from the trauma and instability they experienced while growing up in the system.

But here’s the thing: 🗣️our past does not define us💪✨ Every SETBACK can be a SETUP for a comeback. At **Becoming GLITTY**, we believe in the power of resilience and the strength that comes from overcoming adversity.

I want to remind you that it’s okay to stumble; it’s okay to feel lost. What matters most is how we rise from those moments and use our stories to inspire others. Together, we can break the cycle and create a legacy of hope and empowerment.

I’m Kelly better known as GlittybyKelly and I’m beyond excited to introduce you to my new brand and future foundation **Becoming GLITTY**! 💖

My journey began at the tender age of 3 when my mother, struggling with addiction, went to jail AGAIN. My siblings and I were placed in foster care, where we fought to stay together for as long as we could. Unfortunately, the system eventually separated us, and I spent the next 11 years bouncing from house to house, (7 different homes to be exact) facing the challenges and uncertainties that often come with being in foster care.

At 14, I was finally adopted by my wonderful parents, THE LAWYER AND US MARSHALL who embraced me with love and support. This experience shaped me into who I am today, fueling my passion for helping others who have walked a similar path.
