#الشاورما .. قدمت في سورية منذ أكثر من 110 أعوام
أول مطعم شاورما في سورية، أنشأه الطاهي الدمشقي "صدّيق الخباز" عام 1906، والصورة للمطعم ذاته عام 1907 في ساحة المرجة، حيث تعلم "الخباز" طريقة تحضير هذه الأكلة من التركي محمد اسكندر أفندي الذي اخترعها أول مرة عام 1867.
وقد اشتهرت سورية بتقديمها لأكلة الشاورما، حيث كانت تسمى قديماً (لحم مشوي عالفحم)، مختلفة بذلك عن أكلة (المشاوي)، و تتسابق المطاعم السورية و التركية حتى اليوم بتقديم هذه الوجبة سواء في داخل البلدين أو في بلاد المغترب.
