This reaction can act as a barrier to color retention, as swollen skin may not hold the pigment effectively. Hey beauties!

As most of you know, my most popular service is Nano Brows. What makes Nano Brows superior to other brow services? 💡✨

Nano brows are performed using a machine and needle cartridge. The needle configuration is generally a small gauge, single needle. Hairstrokes with a machine are generally less traumatic to the skin, heal more consistently across a broader ranger of skin types, and creates less scar tissue than microblading, which means it can be maintained over a longer period of time. 👏🏼

It is an advanced technique that requires a very steady and very light hand. In my client base, 99% of my clients that received microblading in the past have been converted to this technique for better long-term results.

✨ Here’s a pro tip ✨: Hairstrokes can also be created with a 3RLLT, a flat or a slope. The artist’s technique and condition of the canvas will determine what type of needle is best suited to perform a hairstroke design. On very fragile skin, a 1RL may not be appropriate.

So, you’re a certified artist. Now, how to get booked and busy? 📋

Did you know that it’s estimated 80% of newly certified permanent makeup artists don’t make it a full year before they give up? Let’s face it, in most cases, permanent makeup takes longer to build your clientele than other personal services. We only see you once every few years, and it takes time to allow people to trust you with a treatment that alters the appearance of your face.

Consistancy and allowing people to get to know you: Allow people to see your work, learn more about you, and see you as both; a professional and an artist, you are consistant. If you don’t have clients, continue to practice on latex pads, show off your knowledge and expertise, and let clients get to know you.

Content: This rolls right into creating valuable content. You’ve invested time, energy, and finances into this career. You are the authority on beauty! You know what you’re talking about and should share it with your audience. Show them your knowledge on techniques, aftercare, how something can affect their treatment and more. The more you can explain, the better.

Networking and referrals: Once you get a couple of clients, make sure you provide the best possible service and treatment you can, and create a referral program to show your appreciation. You may think it’s great to offer deals to new clients to get them through the door, but showing appreciation and gratitude for those clients you do have will help your business grow.✨

Last week, I shared a little about the start of my personal PMU journey with you guys and thinking about it made me reflect on my own apprenticeship. I immediately remembered that feeling when I completed my hours- when I realized that I still had so much to learn to actually feel like I could go out and take on clients. How could I work on something for 100 hours and STILL feel like I was just starting out?

I quickly understood that mastery in permanent makeup extended far beyond my initial training/apprenticeship. It wasn’t just about refining my technique; it was about arming myself with the depth of knowledge to identify the best solutions for my future clients.

Each client you meet is so unique, so understanding the spectrum of services the PMU world offers meant I could tailor my approach, manage expectations, and ensure outcomes that not only looked beautiful but would also age gracefully.

I hold every client’s vision close to heart, always aiming to elevate their natural beauty with tailored, long-lasting results. This commitment to excellence propelled me to seek out further master classes to broaden my expertise over time.

It also sparked an idea: 💡 What if I could cultivate a nurturing learning environment for our trainees at Derma Design Atelier? Embarking on the journey of bridal beauty and hairstyling was like discovering my path—I was destined for entrepreneurship. Crafting the perfect experience for every client had always been my strength. Then life blossomed with the arrival of my beautiful children, and the picture began to shift. What was passion started to feel like burnout, as the balance between demanding wedding hours and family life tilted.

As I attempted to balance the scales between home and hustle, I came across an exciting service one night—Microblading. It felt like a revelation, a glimmer of opportunity that I could excel at, and it resonated with my meticulous nature. With microblading, I could cherish the one-on-one connections that I loved to provide, dedicating my entire focus to perfecting each stroke, each detail, without the rush. It would allow me to craft experiences and results that were truly exceptional, all on my own terms. Not constrained by the ticking clocks and imposed expectations that I’d come to know all too well.

Admittedly, the fear of venturing into this new career loomed large. A new mother again, and the realization that becoming a microblading specialist in New Jersey meant more than I anticipated—it meant becoming a full-fledged permanent makeup artist. The financial stakes were high, and the question lingered, “Am I taking on too much?” But with each client that I assisted, each affirmation of my skills, I knew I had found my calling. I belonged in this space, and my heart sang with confidence that I would not only succeed but thrive.

This was more than a career adjustment; it was me evolving, growing, showing my children that their mom could adapt and flourish, that following your passions and adapting to life’s changes is not only possible but invigorating. I’ve embraced my entrepreneurial spirit with open arms, and it’s leading me to new heights of personal and professional fulfillment. I hope to inspire more people who may have a similar journey. It’s never too late to try something new. It’s okay to be afraid. It’s okay to feel like you’re falling but always remember to get back up.

In the past few months, as I planned to step into this new space, I’ve been tackling some major projects. Dealing with floods, winter illnesses, surgeries, and even finding a new home has been challenging, to say the least. But through all these obstacles, I’ve continued to push forward.

As I embarked on this new phase of my career as an artist/trainer, I knew I had to elevate every aspect of my business. I took the leap by hiring a business coach, bringing on a social media director/content manager, and recruiting new artists. And in the process, I’ve discovered a new and improved version of myself that I’m incredibly proud of.

We’ve been working tirelessly to plan and revitalize my social media branding. I wanted to delve deeper into my brand and form a stronger connection with all of you. So, here’s my first post with a fresh burst of energy and a new look! Stay tuned for more as I share my story with all of you. 🥂✨

Work views 😍✨️ This is the angle I'm viewing you from when working on your brows. This is why I map and mark all my points sitting up to create symmetry, and then I do not deviate from the predraw. I will
periodically stand to check for areas with less saturation, but I never go outside our outline. Swelling and stretching the skin, anatomy and muscle strength of the frontalis and glabella, as well as your positioning can change the way the brows look once you sit up or stand.
