This morning, chatting with a small shop owner in Eldora reminds me that while we may get tired of the constant struggle to be heard, it is making an impact.

Rather than just taking the message, the person answering the governor's number remembered Ryan and had a brief conversation with him about our campaign for the veto of HF2677. Here's a small part of what Ryan shared.

"I just got the gal on the phone to open up a little. She’s taking 1,000 calls a day, she referenced it being a last-minute bill and she said “It’s not over yet” “I’ve sat in the chair 12 years, rest assured, I make sure your voices are heard “

Bill tightening regulations on v**e products awaiting governor's signature Hartman said the bill would make over 99% of the business' products illegal.

So this happened a little bit ago through private chat to the business page.

We are fully aware of how much we've been posting and tagging. Social media is a platform that allows us to reach many people in a short time. And if you look at our posting history, before two weeks ago, you'll see we don't do much tagging, or posting for that matter.

The point, we have some serious things happening that have an affect on thousands of people in Iowa. So much time, money, and effort has gone into fighting this, by customers, retailers, manufacturers, and industry advocates.

We're not going to stop trying to spread the message and ask for help in this fight. If you are upset by the posts and tagging, we understand. The best solution we can offer is to unfollow the page. We have important work to do and we need people that are willing to participate, not find silly reasons to be negative.

Well, we lost the battle late last night, showing Iowans that our elected officials don't give a damn about adults freedom of choice! Rather, their paychecks ran out, it was late, and they wanted to get the hell outta dodge!

Guess who showed up to the capitol yesterday... the regional lobbyist for Altria (big to***co). You know what that means. We are making enough noise that we have their attention!

We have received some encouraging feedback. Lawmakers are noticing all the emails, calls and radio ads!

We can't stop though! While at the capital yesterday, we had some good discussions. We also had some concerning moments, senators who were unaware of this legislation all together or they were more interested in the message from big to***co and didn't find their time worthy of what we had to say.

Talking points -

HF 2677 would be the most restrictive in the country, requiring the removal of every v**e product that entered the market after August 8, 2016. That’s insane!

HF 2677 would ban most flavored v**es. Consumers instead would be left with bland products or ci******es. Do lawmakers really want that?

HF 2677 takes away the freedom of adult v**ers who have chosen to quit smoking. When left with fewer choices, some may choose to start smoking again … an outcome no one (other than the to***co companies supporting HF 2677) wants.

HF 2677 would decimate small businesses that have invested millions of dollars in products, wages, benefits and real estate in Iowa.

The FDA process has been overruled in the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits as “arbitrary and capricious” and a “wild goose chase”. Why would Iowa want to pick a side ahead of a possible Supreme Court decision?

HF 2677 is nothing but a money grab by two of the biggest to***co companies in the world. They are losing market share because people are smart enough to quit smoking. Don’t bail them out for their decades of lies!
