Did you know you can adopt an Alp? Through the Adopt-an-Alp program, you can support and have access to seasonally made, hand crafted, smallest production Alp cheeses. You also get to be in contact with and learn about the people and animals that make it possible for us to enjoy these precious cheeses. ⛰️🇨🇭

This cheese is new in The Shop and is Glarner Alpkäse AOP 2020! It was made on one of the adoptable Alps by Peter & Annelies Tschudi-Lenzlinger and their family.

Read about the Tschudi family, their transhumant farm (the practice of moving animals and people from one grazing ground to another in a seasonal cycle, typically to lowlands in the winter and highlands in the summer) and the Adopt-an-Alp program: https://adopt-an-alp.com/alps/alp-heuboden-gl

Each summer, we always look forward to the installation of a City Sounds piano at the corner of Chamberlain + 42nd St, and this year is no different! 🎹

For the 2023 City Sounds season, RCD is home to this stunning piano painted by Sadagat Aliyeva. Born and raised in Baku, Azerbaijan, and now residing in Des Moines, Sadagat mostly enjoys wandering on the magical streets of her inner world. She often shares her authentic experiences in her fairytale style stories and whimsical illustrations. Sadagat has been showcasing her art in Des Moines and surrounding towns since the beginning of 2022.

As a digital illustrator, painting a piano for the City Sounds project was a first experience with acrylics/traditional painting for Sadagat. She named her piano “Sounds of Home” as a sentiment to her homeland where pomegranates symbolize love. “No matter how old you grow, or how far you travel, you’re always that child in your home. And you’ll always carry the lullabies of the childhood in you wherever you go," says Sadagat.

The poem on the piano was written by her daughter Hamida. Stay tuned for details on some future performances on this gorgeous piano!

The Rosé is made with fresh rosemary and red wine and has notes of citrus and berries, while the Hot Chili has a nice warm heat from chili flakes, paprika and garlic.
