Over a three year period, Jon Lemons photographed signs of the times as it was a pivotal change in our history. His book project, "SIGNS FROM THE PANDEMIC" started as a way for him to leave his house during lockdown — to photograph indications while ordinary life was unordinary — while people were disconnected from one another. Lemons made photographs of signs that held personal meaning to him like the birth of his daughter, as well as instances in public that may hold significance in history. He hopes people will see these photographs and reflect on our time together.
Jons show will remain on display at Zanzibar's Coffee Adventure through May 25th. Stop by or visit www.jonlemons.com to see more or follow him on Instagram
In spite of this crazy weather, spring is in the air here at Zanzibar's thanks to the lovely display of watercolors by artist Suzanne LaTour Stevens. Please stop in to enjoy her assortment of Wildflowers of Iowa before the show ends on March 30.
Plants galore, massive bags of coffee beans and an environment that accurately reflects a “coffee adventure” are present at the Ingersoll Avenue stalwart Zanzibar's.

Zanzibar's Coffee Adventure is now featuring art by Pamela Ballard and Paula McArthur, twin sisters sharing the space with their art. Both teachers who are hoping to share their passion with the next generation. Paula's art has a little bit of things she loves to explore: realism, surrealism, texture and leading into abstraction. Pamela's art intuitively uses the physical gesture of the human form as a primary communicator within a composition--trying to convey underlying messages and mysteries within her paintings.
Just a reminder: we are here until 3:00 pm today and then closed for the holiday weekend. If we don't get to see you today, have a safe and happy holiday!

Also check out the animated art being displayed at Zanzibar's Coffee Adventure. The artist is Dan Nutt and here is some more information about him:
"Dan J Nutt is a practicing Artist in the Midwest. Currently based in Milwaukee, Nutt received his MFA in 2021 from low state, and his BA from Grandview in 2017. Nutt's work explores identity in its relationship to different objects. His interest is in the sentimental value and nostalgia value that lingers in objects. The collection of textiles on display are half hand-dyed, where the patterns are created with a variety of found objects. The other half is repurposed, and hand-me-down clothes."
I am so humbled by all of the kind words and celebratory wishes in honor of our 30th anniversary. I am eternally grateful to have had the opportunity to bring fantastic coffee and a place to gather in this welcoming neighborhood. It is however, the hard work and dedication of all of the wonderful Zanzibarista with whom I have had the pleasure to work, both past and present, that keeps this journey going. To our loyal customers both near and far, thank you for allowing us to help you start your day with a cup of love whether at the shop or in your home. May the adventure continue…..
With gratitude, Julie McGuire

Nancy McGuire is the artist currently on display at Zanzibar's Coffee Adventure. Here's some more information about Nancy:
Introducing Nancy McGuire: Exploring a Sea of Emotion through Abstract Art
Nancy Lynne McGuire lives aboard her 60 ft sailboat ZEPHYR traveling the world with her husband Randy. The work you see here is influenced by her unique experiences, particularly her extensive travels aboard ZEPHYR. Nancy invites you to join her in experiencing the sights and sounds of the sea; from the green coast of Maine to the colorful islands of the Caribbean. In fact, each of these paintings was created while under way or tucked into a secluded anchorage.
Drawing inspiration from the interplay of colors, shapes and sounds, Nancy’s artwork reflects the spectrum of emotions experienced living in concert with nature, both its raw power and catch-your-breath beauty.
Many of Nancy’s pieces are available as originals and all as limited edition prints. To purchase limited edition prints visit Nancy’s art shop: 4-nancy-McGuire.pixels.com
To see more of her work visit www.mcguireyacht.com/studio where you may also follow the adventures of ZEPHYR through Randy’s enjoyable travel blog, beautifully illustrated by Nancy’s photography. You may even be inspired to hop aboard ZEPHYR and join in the adventure.
