It was our pleasure to exceed the brides expectations and to create a dress that could be worn 4 different ways and beyond the wedding day.

This is the video of our first fashion show that took place August 7th 2021 for Afrik Impact at the Levitt pavilion in Denver Colorado.
Kikuyu dresses were made by tanning animal skins, producing a beautiful rust-orange or brown color. More modern approaches use cotton and other materials. The cloths are decorated with cowrie shells and colorful beads, and often include an apron for the women. Today, such clothing can be seen at special ceremonies, such as weddings, dowry, and circumcision celebrations.

Who We Are
Sankofic Gems is a brand of Sankofic Journey and the home of the Motherland Collection. Our mission is to educate people about African culture, history, and significance through quality handmade products. Additionally, we exist to provide permanent employment for communities living in a rural area of Nairobi, Kenya. All of our products are interesting, sophisticated, and made with the highest quality materials available.
In Africa
We have partnered with Sokovine Handmade Products, a small business owned by Khadija, a mother of two boys. Khadija create Sokovine as a platform to give others in her community a way to earn an income. Khadija is an artisan who makes jewelry, a skilled seamstress, and a leader among women in her community. She hires and trains each of her workers in addition to encouraging and investing in their individual talents. Sokovine creates a variety of styles from a variety of ethnic groups such as the Maasai, Zulu, Kikuyu, and many others.
In America
Sankofic Gems is working to pass on entrepreneurial skills to young adults by developing part-time positions for young adults. As the company grows, we plan to hire more.
The Black Dollar
Together Sankofic Gems and Sokovine Handmade Products have set out to create a 100% black economic exchange, which is different from other companies. Each purchase from our store directly uplifts black lives and adds to the longevity of the black dollar.
Purchases from our store contribute to:
Our scholarships to fund schooling for an equal number of boys and girls in Nairobi, Kenya. We pledge to give a percentage of the proceeds made from each sale to the scholarship fund which will pay for school fees, uniforms, and supplies. We believe that in order to achieve black excellence, not only do we as companies need to succeed, but we must also invest in our children - our future leaders.
