Zachary Brown, rising 2L, secured a Legal Internship at Great Lakes Water Authority for Summer 2024.
Detroit Mercy Law’s Veteran’s Law Clinic (VLC) had its first fully Honorable Discharge upgrade granted for a U.S. Navy veteran. Professor Holly Christian, Director of the VLC, expanded the clinic’s practice to include record corrections when she joined the law school in 2021. Nachiket Sarvaiya, Dual 3L, wrote the memorandum that was presented to the Board of Corrections for Naval Records.

Tia Smith, rising 2L, secured a Judicial Externship through the WBA SCP at the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and a Summer Associate position at Brooks Kushman for Summer 2024.
Cheryl Porter '02, has been appointed the new President of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). She is the first African American woman and person of color to hold this esteemed position in the organization’s 143-year existence. She currently serves as chief operating officer of Water and Field Services at the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA).
Isabella Luke, rising 2L, secured a Law Clerk position at Ven Johnson Law for Summer 2024.
Jason Hoskins ‘13, was named to the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute’s 2024 class of David Bohnett Leaders Fellows. He was selected to attend a three-week Executive Education program at the Harvard Kennedy School. He serves as a Michigan State Representative representing Michigan’s 18th House District, which includes Southfield, Lathrup Village, Farmington, Farmington Hills, and Oak Park. He also serves as the Chair of the House Economic Development and Small Business.
