New day, new bake 🤤 this one is a dark chocolate toffee sourdough. It does not disappoint 😍

Okay y’all, I have been telling myself “I want to try sourdough” for probably over a year now. When I learned that through the process of fermentation, 90% + of the gluten dies, it really made me want to learn so I could bake all the carbs I love and miss 😂 But the mental hurdle with this was insane. My sweet husband bought me all the tools this year for my birthday and I finally decided to just do it. I knew failure would be inevitable and I hate failing so much. But that’s part of growth.

So after months of excuses, fears, and hesitations, I finally started. And here is my first loaf. She’s not perfect or fancy, but she represents the start to my sourdough journey, and because of that, she’s beautiful to me 🥹😍

I’m so excited to keep learning, growing, and yes, even failing, as I learn this art and enjoy another avenue for creating delicious foods 🤤

Hey friends! I’m sorry I’ve been so MAI all summer. This summer has been one of learning about food and sugar, and one might say I’m entering my crunchy era 😅 I have the biggest sweet tooth! But I have read more about refined sugars and how they affect our brains. Therefore, I’m trying to combine my love for baking with healthy alternatives that work with my body and nature, instead of against them.

Honey sweetened spiced carrot cake 🥕🍯

This rich cake is bursting with chia spices, sweet carrots, and hints of citrus. It’s soft and melts in your mouth! It’s topped with cream cheese frosting (sweetened with real maple syrup). It’s satisfying, and clean, which means you don’t have to feel guilty eating another piece 😉

I think every baker has something that intimidates them, and for me it’s yeast. I know that probably sounds so elementary and basic, but it’s just been my struggle for years. Add gluten free on top of that, and I’ve just avoided it all together because I’m honestly afraid of failure and wasting expensive ingredients. I have always loved peanut butter blossoms, but find the chocolate to peanut butter ratio to be a little off. So this is my version of the traditional cookie 🍪🙃

“It’s a dog party!”
My son’s favorite book right now is “Go Dog, Go” so we enjoyed throwing him a dog party for his birthday! This two layer cupcake cake was simple yet encompassed the essence of the book. The top layer (tree top) is a vanilla cupcake filled with creamy vanilla pudding, and topped with vanilla bean SMBC frosting.
The bottom layer (the road) is a rich chocolate cupcake filled with milk chocolate pudding, and topped with Dutch chocolate SMBC frosting.

My husband’s birthday is this week and he always loves my chocolate chip banana bread! So, when I was trying to decide what kind of cake to make him, I went with a banana cake, filled with chocolate and peanut butter chips as well as mini peanut butter cups. I then layered the banana cake with rich dark chocolate ganache and creamy peanut butter frosting. This cake is so rich, so flavorful, and so moist!

This bread is filled with sweet juicy pears and hints of cinnamon and chai. The brown sugar glaze is just the icing on the cake 😉🤤 annnnnddddd did I mention it’s gluten free? But you wouldn’t know 😏

German Chocolate - filled with a sweet Carmel, pecan, and coconut cream, topped with chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream.
Vanilla Custard - filled with homemade vanilla custard, topped with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream.

My sweet little baby turned TWO recently so we celebrated with a Route 66 themed birthday party 🚗🚙
