Let me put this in simple terms. It is a FACT that Native Americans killed INNOCENT American colonial settlers during their RESISTANCE of the annihilation of their societies and ways of life.
But who was committing displacement of peoples, genocide, cultural erasure and colonialism? Which peoples were convinced they had an ORDAINED RIGHT to the land over the indigenous inhabitants which justified their displacement of peoples?ย
No one would call Native Americans terrorists or fault them for doing everything they could to save their societies and peoples from extermination against an overwhelmingly more powerful force.ย
No one would hide behind "America has the right to defend itself."ย
No one would hide behind "it's complicated and they're both killing people so I just pray for peace and don't want to take sides."
No one would hide behind "it's complicated, but I stand with America".
NO ONE can possibly justify the MURDER of innocent civilians in which BOTH sides are guilty, fine, take a middle ground on that, but there will NEVER be a middle ground for genocide, apartheid, cultural erasure, forceful displacement of peoples and colonialism. If you refuse toย acknowledge that because you "stand for Israel" or have friends you don't want to offend thenw your blind nationalism and fence riding equate to support of all that garbage. Simple. As. That. โ๐พ๐ต๐ธ

Upgraded to CDJs and a mixer real quick and learning to mix "open format", being the selector, but really letting the records select themselves just as much. This is a live mix, wabi-sabi, so no edits of mistakes (super happy with how I recovered from a few of them).Very house-centric, but there's diversity here that I hope sounds cohesive and sensible. Designed to dance.
You can really hear a few of my influences in this mix, , , and the producers I've discovered through them, .music, , , , but also can't forget about Detroit through ,
and . Enjoy my friends.

Here we go!
Habits Ep.1 ("Live" at S'gucc Detroit) Pre-recorded set performed live at S'gucc Detroit. Check em out every Monday evening at Belle Isle ya'll!
In 1999 my brother Sami introduced me to trance music in the form of Paul Oakenfold. It was one of those "before and after" shifts in one's life, akin to going from black and white to color, checkers to chess, flip phone to iPhone. DJ Tiesto, Paul van Dyk and Sasha & Digweed were soon bumping in my minivan through the cassette to discman converter on my way to high school. I'd try to convert my friends to the ecstasy of dance music, but it was mostly just me partying in my own world, the exception being slipping my senior year prom DJ some acid house records so I could perform a glowstick show to all my classmates, a video of which is immortalized on youtube. I've probably shared it with you because it's my lowkey way of flashing โcredโ. I can be a bit vain. I dreamed of spinning my own records, personifying as DJaxiom9 on AIM, forearms full of kandi at EDC in 2012 (shout out ), falling in love with the culture, the people and dancing my ass off with friends deep into the night (and countless mornings for that matter). I'm in my thirties now and despite the two decades of passion for the music and the culture, I never really got close to learning how to mix given the continued dream of sharing what I love with whoever cares to listen. Who knows why. Self-doubt, impatience with learning, fear of sucking at it, avoidance habits at the end of the day. I've stopped trying to rationalize it and a few months ago. just. started. I decided to make it habit to come back to the decks as often as I could and start releasing mixes as a way to share the music that moves me, to document my learning journey and as way to say hey it's ok to be vulnerable, it's ok to be a total amateur, it's ok to put yourself out there and that "dude suckin at something is the first step at being sorta good at something". Having friends come out to support you and ceaselessly encourage you also helps. I love you all and you know who you are. Mad, mad love to , and for giving me a platform. These guys are onto something special and they're special people. So here it is, some new habits to share with ya'll. Hope you choose to form new ones too.
