Systemic oppression, 400 years later, is still real and it’s still felt. Today is of the bare minimum to honor and celebrate all the beauty and blessings of our Black Men, Women, Children, and people.

And to our fathers that gave us the blessings of our Detroit kids, Happy Fathers Day 🙏🏽🤍

We have to get back to a place where we do whatever is necessary to protect our children. Especially Detroit children. It’s literally becoming too much on a daily basis to hear about the tragedies that our kids are faced with 💔

Here’s the cold hard truth:

We too often lift up our children in times of despair, in times of tragedy, and in times of fear.
Less often we lift up the moments of joy, the moments of opportunity, or the chances that create space for constant learning, worry-free living.
For our Black and Brown babies, and quite honest our children at large, we train teachers to train students on how to be armed against a society they are supposed to feel safe in. And all too often, we arm our communities to arm impact leaders to train citizens on how to survive in a country they are supposed to feel safe in. We weaponize grit and overcoming trauma as equitable resources to have for spaces and places most impacted by poor leadership.
As we enter or near Memorial Day we take moments to honor the people who sacrifice for freedom.
Truth is we freed up space in the loaded guns of our “enemies” and created space to load even larger weapons used against us in our own backyards.
We’re tired of arming our innocent children to respond to tragedy inflicted upon them because of greedy, inhumane leaders. We need to begin arming ourselves with knowledge around policy and law to be enacted, that create safe spaces at the onset rather than healing spaces from tragedies on the back end.

Still wondering what’s important in this country…….It doesn’t seem to be the safety and emotional well-being of our children nor the safety of teachers. Instead of training us to respond to madness, let’s find a solution to the madness.

We’re excited to announce our summer project this year is partnering with to provide FREE gym classes for kids age 14-18 that attend a Detroit school!.
& in efforts to further support health and wellness we will be providing students with protein bars after each workout to help fuel them physically and mentally.
