Gorgeous solid brass candlesticks by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk of Denmark. This design goes back to the late 1950s I believe. Stamped with the original “4 Ducks” Dansk logo inside.

The pair are sculptural, substantial items. The original lacquered finish always yellows over time, so it has been removed and they have been polished to a high sheen. They will patina naturally over time, although it’s easy to apply a new lacquer clear coat to preserve the shine.

The new Bulbul kettle from Alessi is a design by the late great Italian designer Achille Castiglione. Part of Alessi’s 100th anniversary release of unrealized prototypes, it draws its form from - of all things - a curling stone.
