I saw working with ’s Mandala String and fell in love. It’s a fi*****ng weight color-shifting yarn that comes in several gorgeous colorways. With a simple repeating pattern like this block stitch, it really shines 🤩 And there’s something so fun about a bias construction - it’s just different enough from a normal scarf to keep it fun.
This is the first of four patterns that’ll release for the Crochet Academy 2024 crochet along. The first stunner is the Carter Granny Bag, a modular motif shoulder bag made from a lovely cotton blend. I swapped out the traditional granny square for a v-stitch modification to make sure your valuables stay in the bag.
The shining feature of this bag is the strap. I *hate* a saggy crochet bag strap, so we fixed that with a simple single crochet mod that you’re gonna love 💕

This project has been my loyal companion through Netflix binges, and major move, and that phase where I tried listening to autobiographies (spoiler: I’m back to fiction 😁). I’ve learned that creativity flows at its own pace, and sometimes that pace is glacial – but oh, how sweet the victory feels now! 💪🏾
To all my fellow slow-crafters: embrace the pace. Rome wasn’t built in a day (and neither was this 🔥 blanket). Here’s to patience, perseverance, and the magical ability of crochet! 🥂Now, the big question: what project are you trying to take off your WIP list?? 🤔

It feels sooooo good to get this FOUR YEAR OLD project out of my WIP pile. These granny squares have been staring me in the face for far too long. Full disclosure: the squares have been done for ages - it’s the joining I’ve been putting off. Thanks to a tutorial from , joining was painless. Now I have the granny square blanket of my dreams, made from stashed mini skeins 🙌🏾
