We have some very happy students at Neinas Dual Language Learning Academy this week! 🚲
Thank you again to our friends at Cummins Inc for making this happen! ❤️
We love springtime in Detroit!☀️
Our friends at Cummins Inc built 30 bikes each with a helmet. We distributed a portion to our Academy of the Americas students last month! 🚲
We are always grateful for the support of the Cummins Sales & Service employees! 💛
March is Reading Month📚
The Neinas Dual Language Learning Academy students loved their book fair this month! We had books, bookmarks, pencils, crayons & more for them to pick from. ✏️📖
Thank you to all who have helped make this possible with your donations! ❤️
Neinas Dual Language Learning Academy 6th grade girls made blankets, snuffle mats, and bandanas for the Rebel Dogs Detroit dogs! 🐶
It’s so great when we are able to involve the students in giving back to the community and helping a very worthy mission! ❤️
February is here & we’re gearing up for March is Reading Month with a book drive! 📚
These books will supply classroom libraries, 4th grade book clubs, and a book fair for students to pick their favorites!
The students helped pick out these titles & nothing would make us happier than to be able to provide all requested books with your help!

Nothing will fill your joy tank faster than seeing a Bridgepointe Christmas party takeover of a school in southwest Detroit! Novi High School and Novi Meadows students, multiple Santas, and assorted elves from Rocket Mortgage heralded 25 years of Bridgepointe Christmas magic in the hallways of the Academy of the Americas at both the Cub and Tiger campuses. Elementary school kids decorated cookies, did crafts, visited with Santa, sang carols with guitar accompaniment, played rowdy games in the hallways and gym, listened to a Novi High School choir, and were gifted mittens, gloves, hats, books, games, stuffed animals, and memories for a lifetime . . . and volunteers left with joy tanks overflowing.
🌟25 YEARS!🌟
We have been so fortunate to spend the last 25 years supporting the amazing Southwest Detroit community.
There are no words that can truly describe our gratitude to the staff and families of Academy of the Americas & Neinas Dual Language Learning Academy and all of our supporters who help make our work possible. ❤️
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our 25th anniversary! A very special shoutout to Hector & Taqueria El Rincon Tapatio for the amazing venue & food. 💙
A heartfelt thank you to the Meijer Distribution - Newport, MI for their generous Meijer Team Gives donation! We can’t wait to put this gift to work for our schools in Southwest Detroit! ✏️
The Academy of the Americas Cub Campus had a few visitors this week!
A small group of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine medical students spent a couple days explaining good health to the young students. Using stuffed animals and humor, they reached our students right where they are at to help them make healthy choices! The “Teddy Bear Health Education Clinics” were a hit with students and teachers alike! 🐻💚
For the past 6 years, La Alacena, provided food support as well as life essentials for Academy of Americas families who are experiencing food insecurity.

Today we were able to restock the entire La Alacena with a generous grant from Cummins Sales and Service ♥️
Some hard-working Academy of America Moms worked side-by-side with Cummins volunteers to get the job done in time for the holidays.
Much gratitude for our partner and friends at E & L Market in Southwest Detroit.
Thanks Cummins and E&L for your ongoing support the past 20+ years!

PRESENTING the City of Detroit’s first female Eagle Scout, Melissa Castaneda, a member of Troop Trece Quince (1315)! The troop, which meets at the Academy of the Americas, was chartered by Bridgepointe in 2014. Participants in Melissa’s Eagle Board of Review included, left to right, Renée Grant, former Troop 1315 treasurer, Sue Laabs and David Laabs, troop founders and former assistant scoutmaster and scoutmaster, respectively. Bridgepointe is successful because of powerful, committed partners .

June Waldbauer and friends have been have been consistently fundraising ,collecting and organizing school supplies for our southwest Detroit students for the past 10 +years.
This year they were able to provide school supplies for 700+ students .
They also were able to supply classroom essentials for our hard-working teachers.
Neinas, Academy of Americas, Harms, Roberto Clemente, Maybury and Bennett Elementary were all impacted by June and her powerful group of friends.
Much gratitude for the ongoing compassion and support for a dynamic 2023/24 school year♥️

As we wrap up 2022, we would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your continued support of Bridgepointe and our partner schools. The past week was filled with love and community, as hundreds of volunteers came together to lift up students and staff through holiday celebrations and food deliveries. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to be involved in the southwest Detroit community and to work in partnership with the many fabulous Bridgepointe volunteers, including the students from Seaholm and Northville High Schools. Wishing you and your families all the best in 2023!
May we count on you? We're putting together boxes for 10 families in southwest Detroit to be delivered on December 23 with enough food for Christmas Day and groceries for a week of the school break. Volunteers already are doing the grocery shopping, and we have volunteers to assemble the boxes and deliver the food. You can help us in a very meaningful way with grocery money! Please donate via Venmo or on our website, bridgepointenonprofit.com.
AoA STRONG with a little help from our friends! Longtime supporter Cummins, Inc. provided AoA athletics with a grant for exercise and weight training equipment, and Jimmy Rubio, a Bridgepointe volunteer since high school days, connected AoA with new friends from Two Men and A Truck, who donated their considerable muscle and mad moving skills to heft the equipment up to the third-floor workout room adjacent to the recently refurbished gym at Academy of the Americas.
Oh, the places you’ll go — and the places we’ve been! A reunion of El Sueño students on the threshold of college, trade school, jobs, and adulting celebrated nine years with Bridgepointe at the Pink Flamingo in Corktown. Students, volunteers, and Academy of the Americas teachers enjoyed a bonfire and barbecue, giant Jenga, a photo memory game, and story time around the bonfire, featuring Dr. Suess’s “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” Students received a copy of the book along with an invitation to apply for scholarship funds for whatever comes next. Congrats to the Class of 2022! We love you!
