Stolen Moments
I'm a creative gal fighting for my artistic life because it's what I want to wake up and do forever.
It's gonna be so hot vending today. π₯΅ I'm thinking I'll only stay until about 2pm. It's horrible when you're tearing down your booth in that kind of afternoon heat.
For the record, 12 couples were holding hands in the blazing heat of Clayton, NY Farmer's Market today and most everyone wore a shade of blue again. β€οΈ I love to people watch. It's been consistent EVERY WEEK. π₯° I love to hold hands (last I remember π), but I've gotta tell ya...you touch me when it's over 80 degrees and I'll make sure it never happens again. I'll love you anyway...but if you value your hands, keep them to yourself until we're back in an air-conditioned vehicle or house. π
It's good to be back! Apparently the pole to my card rack didn't make it back into the car when I had to unload everything to fit actual people in my vehicle, so the cards are in a little bin today. Lol
We're here until 4pm, folks!
I'm probably jinxing myself, but it looks like I may actually be able to vend at the Clayton, NY Farmer's Market tomorrow. π€It feels like it's been forever since the rains let me vend!!!
I finally chased down the Northern Lights tonight!!! We couldn't see them with our bare eyes, but they showed up in photos spectacularly!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!! Did you see them?
Due to a flooded basement today and subsequent clean-up tomorrow, I'll unfortunately not be vending at Lyme Library tomorrow. 3 days of vending lost to rain this week. πππ
You know why it's raining so much this summer, right? It's because I committed to vending at 2 Farmer's Markets. π€£ According to the weather, it's supposed to start raining around 2pm in Clayton and it makes no sense for me to drive half an hour up there... just to be set up for 3-ish hours and tear it all back down again. I don't see it happening for Chaumont tomorrow, either, but we'll see. That one is only 10 minutes from my house and I park right behind my spot. I also set up under a tree so I don't need my tent. If it doesn't rain until later in the day, then I still might be OK for that one. It looks like it's going to clear up for vending at Lyme Library on Saturday, though. π€
I will not be at the Clayton or Chaumont Farmer's Markets this week due to unforeseen circumstances. I'll keep you posted about next week. Enjoy your day! π¦
Don't get too excited, but I think a round of resin may ACTUALLY be curing. π³ I'll find out for sure tomorrow. I hope this works. π€
All set up for the hot air balloon festival! We're here until 7pm! I may melt before that, but at least it's not raining. π₯΅ lol
I totally forgot to post photos this morning. Lol I'm all set up at the Chaumont Farmer's Market until about 4pm today! We're on the main street just passed Blue Heron.
I'll be vending here on Saturday!
I'll be at Zenda Farms Preserve on Saturday for the Balloons in the Islands! It's supposed to be a gorgeous day!
On a whim, I tried another round of resin. It's been about 2 months since I've been able to make any jewelry because of the humidity. I got some beautiful sailboat, dandelion puffs, s'mores, and bigger bee molds for the summer and I haven't been able to use any of them. π I put this round in late yesterday morning and they're still bendy. Ugh. It hasn't been 24 hours though, so here's hoping. π€ They're full of microbubbles though. So frustrating.
Now that vending season is in full force, I feel the need to point out that it's not a bad idea to bring cash in smaller bills and alternative payments such as debit or Venmo to events. I encourage everyone to ASK THE VENDOR which they prefer...we're all different. I actually prefer electronic payments for a few reasons (which I know violates everything that's being drilled into your heads about small businesses lol):
1) I don't have the expense of bags anymore. I'm seriously still carrying around the paper bags I bought 2 years ago, just in case. Most people bring their own now. So it kinda evens out in the end.
2) I have low fees. At the end of the day, I usually only have about $3 in fees.
3) Most of my supplies are purchased online, which means I need money in the bank to get them...I can't just go to a store and pay cash. Electronic payments save me the time and gas of going in to town to the bank, and the funds are available immediately. I don't have to wait to put in an order until I've had time to go to the bank.
So don't ever feel bad for asking to pay with some sort of electronic payment if you come to my booth. They actually make things easier for me. π I personally take debit, credit, Venmo, PayPal and cash.
The earrings look so pretty in the sunshine. β€οΈ
What a beautiful day to be all set up at the Chaumont Farmer's Market in the front yard of the Copley House! It goes until 5pm, but I may have to leave around 3pm. Come see us!
Have any of you ever done this? One of my customers told me about this today! You get postcards from people all over the world and send them to people all over the world! How cool is that?

Cross your fingers that the weather is good for the hot air balloon festival next weekend! I'll be vending at the festival on Saturday at Zenda Farms Preserve from 2-7!
Hot Air Balloons Set to Launch Over the 1000 Islands Region July 26β27, 2024
Clayton-1000 Islands, New York: The Clayton Chamber of Commerce and presenting sponsors, Clayton Marina Sales & Service and FMI Sand and Gravel, are pleased to announce Claytonβs newest event, Balloons in the Islands. Above All Balloon Rides - Hudson Valley Balloon Rides will feature five hot air balloons powered by Glider Oil Co., Inc. This family-friendly event is free, with select activities available for an additional charge.
Balloons in the Islands will kick off Friday at Coyote Moon Vineyards from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fridayβs activities include a Balloon Glow, sponsored by The Cal Shop, Inc., live music, food, and, of course, Coyote Moon Vineyards wine. On Saturday, the event moves to Zenda Farms Preserve Clayton from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., courtesy of the Thousand Islands Land Trust. Around 7 p.m., the event will conclude with balloons taking passengers from Zenda Farms Preserve over the spectacular 1000 Islands Region.
All ballooning activities are weather-dependent. This is also a dog-free event. We love pets too, but they can be frightened by the loud pitch of the balloon burners. Service animals are permitted.
Sponsorships for the event are still available, and anyone wishing to volunteer can contact Tricia Bannister at [email protected] or 315-686-3771x5.
Help our new event by sharing this post. Thank you!
Lots of vendors here this week! Come check us out! We're here until 4pm!
All set up for the Farmer's Market on this beautiful DRY Thursday!! We're here until 4pm!
Is everyone in one piece...mostly? Other than a few inches of water in my basement, we're not in bad shape in Dexter. I see Watertown, Sackets, and Henderson got it bad. Poor Lowville got nailed again. π’ I hope everyone is OK!
Morning! For those of you who were interested in the bulk organic co-op that I've mentioned before, the next order has to be in by this Monday at 7pm. Delivery will be sometime the following week unless all of this crazy weather postpones it. This is this month's sale flyer. If you are a new customer and use the promo code JULY15** at checkout, you'll get 15% off your order over $100 and you have to pick it up at our drop in Watertown.
As a Drop Coordinator, I always appreciate anyone who uses my code for their first order, because this is a volunteer position and I get credit for anyone who uses it. Use this link https://www.azurestandard.com/start and enter MelissaGreen7 for the code. If you order $100+ in the first 60 days, I'll get the credit.
Have a great day!
