Oyster Mushrooms get their name from an uncanny resemblance in appearance and taste to fresh-shucked oysters.

They have been in commercial cultivation since World War 1, utilized first by Germany as a subsistence measure during foods shortages.

In modern times, they have become a vegetarian and vegan staple used in place of meat & seafood.

The capabilities of this powerful strain go beyond just culinary applications though.

One of the most exiting fields is Mycoremediation, a form of bioremediation in which fungi-based remediation methods are used to decontaminate the environment.

Researchers have now found that many species are capable of plastic bioremediation including Oyster Mushrooms.

The good news is that this fungus is capable of decomposing plastic while still creating an edible mushroom.

The road is long, but Mother Nature gave us all the tools we need in order to create a more sustainable and balance relationship between us, and the environment.

If you enjoy the umami taste of gourmet mushrooms, then you must try pioppino mushrooms.

Pioppino mushrooms (Agrocybe aegerita) are delicious edible and medicinal mushrooms that grow in large clusters on decaying hardwood trees, especially poplars.

Pioppino mushrooms have a lot to offer as they’re nutrient-rich with loads of earthy, nutty flavor, a firm, crunchy texture and several health benefits.

Pioppino mushrooms have an earthy, nutty flavor that’s slightly sweet with some peppery notes.

Their smell is subtly floral, and their texture is firm and crunchy, often described as crispy.
Some people think their stem texture is similar to asparagus when cooked.
