There could not have been a more beautiful day to dedicate this square to BFD Lt. Stephen Minehan. This year marks the 30th anniversary of his passing which resulted from him selflessly attempting to rescue two of his brothers from the Charlestown Fire of ‘94. Those two were fortunate enough to survive, but Lt. Minehan made the ultimate sacrifice that day. This dedication not only commemorates his valor and bravery, but will insure that his legacy never fades from our memories.

52 years ago today, 9 Boston Firefighters gave their lives in the performance of their duties during a catastrophic collapse of the Hotel Vendome. The impact of the events of June 17, 1972 will reverberate through our job forever.
Today, and everyday, we call to mind the sacrifices made by our Brothers in the service and protection of the citizens of the City of Boston.

Today marks the 52nd anniversary of the Vendome Hotel Fire. The sacrifices made have certainly not been forgotten.

Boston Sparks Association - June Cookout On Congress Street Looking forward to another Annual Cookout on Congress Street. We are hoping it wont be our last! Hot dogs, cheeseburger, burgers, sausages, potato salad, coleslaw, cookies, brownies will all be served on Farnsworth Street by our Barbequing Crew!

We wish you a meaningful and memorable Memorial Day. By servicing firefighters, police officers, and EMTs, our members often come to us with experience in the US Military as well. We thank them for their service and are proud to have them as members, but today is for those who were not fortunate enough to return home. Their sacrifices were given in exchange for the safety and security for those of us privileged enough to remain at home. Today we honor those valiant individuals who gave their lives for our country and make the promise that it was not given in vain.

Today BFCU leadership and board members were privileged to attend the 9th Annual Rededication Ceremony of the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Memorial in Boston’s Seaport District. The Rededication concludes 2024 Patriot Week activities which honor the memories of our fallen, supports their families and empowers Veterans to succeed. BFCU is proud to be a longstanding supporter of the mission of the Mass Fallen Heroes.

Congratulations to our very own Vicky Marte, recognized today by senior leadership, management, and staff as an outstanding employee of BFCU. Ray Lazcano of the First Responders Group delivered food to DotHouse Health today. This food was collected at our Shred-It event this past weekend, and thank you to all our generous members who donated over 30 bags worth of food!

For several years BFCU has proudly endorsed the Mass Fallen Heroes organization and their efforts to honor Massachusetts fallen service members, as well as, their unparalleled programs and services for Veterans and Gold Star Families.
