The community has asked and diPA has answered. For the past couple of years, parents have requested diPA initiate a full day summer camp program for the month July.

Consequently, diPA is excited to bring to the community a mindfulness arts curriculum focussed on cognitive development and learning readiness via its 2024 MINDFULNESS CAMP running July 1st-July 26th.

COST: $150/wk

Thank you to three long standing diPA donors along with The Nastasha Shephard Scholarship Fund. diPA Center was able to offer 6 scholarships to diPA’s 2024 Summer Dance Intensive to families whose dancers would no other way be able to engage in quality summer dance training.

diPA Summer Programs are structured initiatives, serving the Metro Atlanta community, that focus on the artistic, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development of youth ages 6-18 in the months of June and July.

diPA’s blessed to start 2024 by bringing in the New Year by serving the Metro Atlanta community in partnership with Open Hands Atlanta. diPA Tour Team Dancers and families started their January 1st morning by piling in cars ready to deliver meals prepared by Open Hands to the sick and shut in ☺️ What a great feeling to know there are organizations that are passionate about caring for the community, families, children, and the elderly ❤️ who empower citizens and organizations to participate in such needed community services.

Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader, Amber Hunter-Henley, received her bachelors of science degree at Stetson University. As a Dean’s scholar she was a Health science major minoring in psychology. She’s received training at the I-Inspire Dance Studios, Pro Action Dance Convention, Stetson University TopHats Dance Team, and the Daughters of Zion Dance Studio. She’s performed at BET‘s The Stellar Gospel Awards for Erica Campbell and Jor’dan & Wande and as opening talent for the South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center’s grand opening ceremony.

Tamara Irving, an Atlanta native, was in the premiere casts of both the Hamburg Germany Company and the Cheetah US National Tour of Disney’s The Lion King. She has also been a featured dancer with The Atlanta Opera. Mrs. Irving trained with Cubie Burke, Teri Axam, Gary Harrison, Roscoe Sales, Shen Wei and others. She is a proud member of Actor’s Equity and alumna of the Howard University Dancing Bisonettes. After graduating from Howard University with a Marketing degree, she was a dancer with the Atlanta Hawks Dance Team and resident choreographer for the Atlanta Hawks Jr. Dance Team. Mrs. Irving recently completed 12 years as the dance director at her alma mater North Atlanta High School where she was the 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year. She received her Master of Arts in Dance Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in May 2017. Tamara is the owner of TMI Design & Consulting LLC servicing fine and performing arts educators. In addition to being a professional dancer and choreographer, Tamara is also a proud wife and mom of 2 beautiful daughters and a son! Tamara believes that her gift is to inspire others through dance and that movement can come from anything!

We are excited to have her as part of TGN's artistic team as we look forward to her work captivating the audience.

Hailing from the city of East Point, GA, Dwane Terry, "1 Purpose Mime", has been sharing the enchanting art of mime since 2001. His journey began when a teacher asked, "Could you and your breakdancing friends bring mime to life for our school's Black History Month program?".

Since then, 1 Purpose Mime -aka 1PM- has shared his craft at events such as the BET talent search, Tim Storey's "Sign & Wonders Conference", and the Atlanta Gospel Choice Awards.
1PM's vision is to encourage other artists to explore their unique talents and gifts in the efforts to touch the lives of others.

We are excited to have Dwayne Terry captivate, move, and inspire our audience spectators in this year’s premier production of Metro Atlanta’s The Gospel Nutcracker.

Metro Atlanta’s Gospel Nutcracker is a unique holiday experience for the entire family to enjoy. It is a Nutcracker holiday twist with an emphasis on the true meaning of Christmas. Talent from across Metro Atlanta and beyond will grace the stage for the first of its kind, a Gospel Nutcracker.

Metro Atlanta’s Gospel Nutcracker is a Nutcracker production designed to facilitate arts education for performing artists within the Metro Atlanta community and beyond. This production experience is an opportunity for young and pre-professional artists (ages 6-up) to engage with new up and coming professional performing artists via an evening of festivities that celebrates the true meaning of Christmas through the performing arts.

A portion of proceeds generated from Metro Atlanta’s Gospel Nutcracker goes towards the MATTHEW253536 Project that functions to service the most urgent and immediate needs of families within Metro Atlanta’s marginalized communities during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s, and Easter holiday seasons.

🌺Samantha Burke is a Soprano and Violinist. As an Atlanta resident, Samantha Burke is the Founder and Director of BURKE MUSIC ACADEMY and teaches voice, strings, and piano. She is a student of Amy Shoremount-Obra (The Metropolitan Opera, NY) at Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music (M.M) and Erika Kiesewetter (Concertmaster of The American Symphony, NY) (B.M.) from Bard College. She also studied closely with renowned Hungarian musicologist Peter Laki, to develop a senior thesis on the opera Otello from Desdemona’s point of view and later, a concert lecture series focused on making opera accessible to audiences. She is a frequent scholarship recipient and has won awards in Georgia and New York competitions.

As a young child, her love of music led her to perform in the Sydney Opera House with the Atlanta Young Singers at the age of 13.

Her 2023 season was filled with premieres including a new principal role Sister Rat in Cecil Taylor’s A Rat’s Mass at New York’s The Graduate Center, a reprise of her role of Tess in the opera OMAR by Rhiannon Giddens and Michael Abels which she covered the role of Julie for Spoleto Festival’s world premiere of the opera in 2022, and a concert performance on NPR with mezzo-soprano, J’nai Bridges. In 2021 Samantha premiered a Recital-Documentary called ‘Essential’. Also in the Spring of 2021, she sang the title role of Carmen in the Brooklyn College Opera (Virtual edition). During the 2020 season, Ms. Burke was scheduled to perform as a soloist with The New York Philharmonic at David Geffen Hall with the Brooklyn College Conservatory choirs (canceled due to Covid-19), additionally she was a semi-finalist in the New York Art Song Preservation Society Competition.

Burke has performed numerous recitals and roles most notably: Second Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Miami Opera Institute and The American Symphony), and the title role in Massenet’s Manon (The American Symphony), and portrayal of principal roles in Bard College’s Opera Workshop.
We are excited to have her voice grace the audience in this year’s premier production of Metro Atlanta’s Gospel Nutcracker.

Challyce Brogdon comes from Los Angeles to Atlanta as a lead cast in Metro Atlanta’s Gospel Nutcracker.

Having studied and performed at Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, Challyce received her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the Dominican University of California as a Merit Scholar. With her foundational training from BRE Dance Studio, she’s a recipient of the Sunny Brown Foundation Scholarship, awarded 1st in the Allied Arts Awards, and the NAACP Act-so competition. Challyce has also been a scholarship recipient for Alvin Ailey’s Summer Intensive, the Monaco Dance Forum, and the California State Summer School for the Art. In her professional career, she has been commissioned to direct, choreograph, and perform both nationally and worldwide in the US, Austria, UK, Kosovo, and Monte Carlo.

We are excited to have her grace the stage in the premier production of Metro Atlanta’s Gospel Nutcracker.
