There was once an old Mason who hadn't attended his lodge for 20 years. One day he thought he'd go and see what's been going on with his lodge in his absence. When he arrived he found boards on the windows, and a padlock on the door with a sign saying CLOSED.
As he stood staring at this sad lonely building a younger man walked up and looked along with the old man.
The old man said; I was a member here for many years.
The young man replied; I was the secretary.
I just can't understand how this lodge could have gone dark. I bought my life membership 50 years ago. Said the old man.
To this the young man replied every member here were life members as well.
Puzzled the old man said; if everyone had life memberships, then what happened? How did it go dark?
The young man replied; no one attended the meetings or became involved.
My point is just this; It isn't enough to buy a life membership, it isn't enough to pay dues, and it isn't enough to say you're a Mason. You have to attend, get involved, and claim your benefits.
Douglasville Lodge will be competing in the Douglasville Chili cookoff this Saturday Oct 21st. This is an evening event so come out and get warmed up with some good chili.
Brethren when upon bended knee please keep WB David Grice in your prayers. He was admitted to the hospital for chest pains earlier today. Having further test ran tomorrow to determine the cause. Not sure if it was a heart attack or not. I will keep you posted as more information comes available.
4 new Master Masons were given their certificates tonight. We welcome these good brethren “officially” to Douglasville Lodge #289
As Freemasons, it’s essential to remember that our duty goes beyond memorization of words and just practicing our values and principles within our lodges. We should also endeavor to make a positive impact on the world around us. While we continue to work on bettering ourselves, we should also aim to spread knowledge, wisdom, and understanding to those we encounter. Let’s make it our mission to bring light and positivity to the world outside of our lodges, embodying the principles of Freemasonry in our daily lives.
Thank you to everyone that came out and supported our Pancake Breakfast event!! I hope you enjoyed the fellowship!! Hopefully a good breakfast was a bonus!!

Congratulations to these two great brothers who we honored tonight. Johnny Fernander has been an extremely active Mason for 25 years and Tylor Phillis has been swapping stories and manning our fish fry’s for over 50 years. Two wonderful men who we are proud to have as brothers at Douglasville Lodge. Congratulations Brothers.
Words that soak into your ears are whispered. Counsel and comfort brethren
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
