Dear Santa:

All we want for Christmas this year is food, cat toys, medical care, and a happy home.

14 of us came to WSHS together in October from a single home. When we arrived we had array of health issues among all the kittens, including severe upper respiratory problems, eye infections, crushed ribs, and malnourishment. We received complete health evaluations, microchips, and vaccinations, like every animal that comes to WSHS. One of our group, Dane, did not survive, but the rest of us are doing well in foster homes.

Please Santa, can you provide WSHS with enough food, toys, medication and resources to help every animal that comes through their shelter next year?

On average, WSHS spends $453 on every cat in our care, and $510 for every dog (excluding surgeries for animals requiring additional care). Everyone calls Pet of the Week Piper special, and we think they're right! Beautiful, loyal, and full of character, when this sweet girl was a puppy, she survived a virus that left her with coordination issues. It doesn't bother her, except sometimes it's kind of tricky to do maneuvers like stairs. Her foster mom says it adds to her charm!

V's SweetArts is here to help! this 1.5-hour beginner friendly class will cover sugar cookie basics, do some piping practice with Royal Icing, strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and more!

Your support will help animals like this sweet kitten, who came to us from a local resident who had taken in several feral cats, and suddenly found herself overextended when they started breeding in her home. We took in 14 kittens, and also assisted in obtaining spay and neuter services for all the adult cats in her house to ensure that she did not find herself with a repeat litter while she tended to the adult cats’ needs.

After being placed in Foster Care, three of her siblings were diagnosed with Parvovirus, a highly contagious gastrointestinal disease that can often be deadly.

We asked our animals what they were thankful for this Thanksgiving, and it turns out they are thankful for volunteers who bring feathers, take them on trips & give them baths, and also for cat trees, sunshine and toys. Happy Thanksgiving to to the volunteers, donors and staff who keep everything running for our animals!

Pet of the Week Jeffrey is goofy, affectionate, and playful. He loves to play chase and wrestle, and is enchanted by feather wands and spring toys. If you've been looking for a fun little friend, you've found him!
