The portraits are $15 per person, and are drawn at our bookstore. As always, all proceeds support our library’s programs, activities, and services.

These portraits make a great gift!

Appointments are recommended, however walk-ups are accepted, time permitting. Pls comment below to make an appointment.

Our Silent Auction for the month of June is well underway and ready to impress many enthusiasts with unique interests.

We are super excited to announce our collaboration with local artist, Taryn Lee! Taryn’s talent is phenomenal and we are so fortunate she is offering to do portraits for library and bookstore patrons.

As this is a new collaboration, we are offering an unbelievably low introductory cost of $15.00 minimum per person; additional contributions are welcome, as 100% of the proceeds support library programs and services.

Taryn will be at our bookstore, located in the library lobby, on Thursday, April 18th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Each portrait takes approx. 15 min for one person, up to 25 min for a 2-person sitting. Next week we will post additional dates.

✨ update 2/28 - we still have books available

We received over thirty banker boxes of books from the estate of Jackie O’Dell. Jackie was a longtime Downey resident, former teacher and library volunteer. Jackie was a true book afficianado, as is evidenced by her fascinating and diverse collection of books.

What a wonderful way to honor Jackie’s memory by offering her books to the community, at no charge. Please stop by our bookstore, located in the library lobby, and help yourself to some of Jackie’s treasures. They will be displayed on the bookstore counter, which will constantly be replenished until all of Jackie’s books have found new homes. 💫✨💫

Guess who is coming to the library? We're expecting a visit from our a very special friend from the North Pole on Monday, December 18. We will have fun activities between 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Santa will be here at 6:00 PM so bring your camera and snap a photo with Santa! Free event and no registration required.
