Hi all!

It's been a while since we've done a Zine night at Roy G. Biv! This week we will be learning a little bit about the history of zines & their delightfully q***r roots as well as making our own little zine to take home with us.

Wondering what a zine is?! Usually, it is a small booklet containing poems, drawings, or cartoons & sometimes they are used to distribute information on specific topics. Zines are usually only a few pages & often something you can create in a sitting. Though some zines can become pretty complex!

Last year we made zines about LGBTQ+ specific things, like how to wear a binder, what is genderq***r. & even a little information guide on Roy G. Biv. I am excited to see what we make next!

Hope to see you there!

Tonight at Roy G Biv (8/18 6-7:30pm) we will be making & talking about zines! This is one of the first activities we did when Roy G. Biv first started and was a huge hit. It's been awhile since we have dedicated an entire evening program to it, and it's about time we brought it back! If you know any LGBTQ+ youth & allies ages 10-14 looking for a creative space, where acceptance and curiosity is top priority, please refer them to Roy G. Biv. For any questions please use the email linked in the profile.

This Wednesday our friends at the Rainbow Room are having Black Out Poetry night! 8/10/22, 6-8pm, ages 14-21

This week at the Rainbow Room: 𝙱𝙻𝙰𝙲𝙺 π™Ύπš„πšƒ π™Ώπ™Ύπ™΄πšƒπšπšˆ π™½π™Έπ™Άπ™·πšƒ! Wednesday August 10th, 6-8pm with our awesome RR staff plus guest artist and former CBSD art teacher Nancy Taylor.

π™±πš•πšŠπšŒπš” 𝚘𝚞𝚝 πš™πš˜πšŽπšπš›πš’ is a cool, easy and delightfully q***r activity, when you take a written piece of text from a book, newspaper, printed document (like a homophobic school district policy πŸ‘€) or magazine - and redact words, in order to come up with your very own poetry creation! We’ll provide all the materials for a fun activity that requires no specific poetic or artist talents.

πŸ–€πŸ€Žβ€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ

All youth 14-21 yrs are welcome. The Rainbow Room is Planned Parenthood’s program for LGBTQA + youth and allies, with weekly youth meetings, Wednesdays 6-8pm, at our center in Doylestown since 2002. We proudly provide empowering and medically accurate, s*x education, advocacy, reproductive rights, support, friendship, activism, art, expression, healing, friendship, fun, food and massive LOVE.

COVID safety: We are closely tracking public health and safety concerns, and prioritizing this in our planning. ALL youth, staff and volunteers are required to be vaccinated (2 Pfizer vaccines or 2 Moderna at a minimum) to attend in person. We will also require wearing masks, and we will have KN95 and N95 masks available. Anyone who knows they have been recently exposed to COVID or has any symptoms (sore throat, runny nose, loss of taste/smell, etc) is asked to stay home and join us via Zoom. Email or DM us for virtual registration information!
