To all the “Chuck’s Bike-O-Rama’s” out there….if you don’t have the specific knowledge and experience required to properly size and fit someone on a triathlon bike, you should NOT be selling tri bikes! A plumb bob w/ KOPS (knee over pedal spindle) approach has zero significance for a tri fit….ZERO! Adding needed pad/cup reach by moving the saddle rearward is NOT acceptable. This customer was sold a bike without having a pre-buy fit on a dynamic fit bike (and without any fit whatsoever)! He was not only sold the wrong size bike (and fitted horribly on it), but was told “you need more reach, but I can simply move your saddle back to compensate”. This is just WRONG!

To anyone in the market for a new tri bike….find a reputable fitter experienced with triathlon fitting and bikes who will fit you properly and give you an unbiased list of bikes/sizes that’ll work, regardless of whether said fitter sells those brands or not!

Having a dual-purpose road/tri bike is a great option for many athletes…but, it’s not as simple as throwing on a set of clip-on aero bars on your road bike. The SRsix Aero Road Bike is a perfect platform for this application. Utilizing a zero offset seatpost in conjunction with a shorter than normal (for dedicated road bike) crankset allowed for a forward position w/ an open hip angle. A long stem and Subsonic aerobar brackets were used to achieve the needed armrest stack while maintaining a useable and comfortable road position. This frame up custom build is spec’d with Sram’s Force AXS….a single front chainring and XPLR rear derailleur, allowing for a wide range 10-44 cassette. 3D printer wireless blip mounts finish off this super clean build! Look…no cables mom!!! Only at The Energy Lab ⚡️

Another custom but simple cockpit and BTA hydration setup…. cups paired with ASC extensions with 3D printed bar end mounts for Sram wireless blips. A raised BTA bottle cage completes the package. Only at The Energy Lab ⚡️

Want superbike performance at half the cost? This E-117 is a great example of how smart choices and a clean build can provide top level performance at a reasonable price! The cockpit on this E-117 is Vision’s one-piece bar/stem Metron Aerobar coupled with the Aeria hydration unit. Groupset is Sram Force AXS topped off with a trusty saddle! 🔥

From pre-buy fit to custom-built to order….the first TF1 through the Energy Lab doors has been released into the wild! looks like a happy camper! It all started with a fit on the Vertex Fit Cycle BEFORE purchasing a bike. Exact fit coordinates were then sent to Ku’ prior to a meeting with Ku’s lead engineer, Richard McAinsh, to discuss optimal frame sizing & geometry. The end result speaks for itself!

Marc Galietta's fundraising page for CureSearch for Children's Cancer 01/02/2024

Hey FB friends! Those who know me well know that I'm a private person and typically keep to myself. That said, I'll be competing in Ultraman Florida on February 9, 10, and 11 and thought it might be a suitable opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause. I, not unlike most people today, have been personally touched by cancer. I was recently made aware of CURESEARCH, who's mission it is to end childhood cancer. I will be participating in their 18 mile "Ultimate Hike" in Jackson Hole in September. I'll also be using any/all of my endurance events and adventures to further help in their fundraising efforts, with Ultraman Florida being the first.

That said, I'm hoping you might feel compelled to donate to CURESEARCH using the link to my fundraising page below. My daughter's elementary school (she's now 17 year old) always had a yearly theme or core value they would try to instill in their students. One such idea that has stuck with me to this very day was the "ripple effect", stressing how, like ripples expand across the water when an object is dropped into it, one small pebble of kindness tossed into the world can cause a wave of compassion. I still like to believe that many people doing small acts of kindness can have a large impact.

Thanks in advance!

Marc

Ironman No. 11 in the books for Stuart “The Professor” Selber! Thanks for the kind words and your continued support!

Excerpt from Stuart’s race report/summary (link below)…

“Constantly working on the craft, this past year I continued to refine my aero position with Marc Galietta of The Energy Lab. Triathlete Magazine recently named Marc a top American bike fitter, but I already knew that. A surprising number of Ironman athletes don’t understand the ball game on the bike: Riding as efficiently and aerodynamically as possible at 65-75% or so of your functional threshold power (FTP), so you can then run a marathon. What you can see in the bike photo are super long cups (from TriRig) that run from my elbows to my hands. Marc fabricated the parts needed to mount the cups to my Ventum One base bar, and he fabricated mounts for a water bottle cage and bike computer. It’s custom work that provides full structural (versus muscular) support for riding a world-class aero position for 112 miles.”

Congrats to all Energy Lab athletes racing Ironman Atlantic City 70.3 earlier today! Special recognition to current and former fit clients Luke Davis, Jack Putney, and James Grauel for finishing 2nd, 8th, and 12th overall, respectively!

09/10/2023

It was only a matter of time before started making waves at the highest level of triathlon! First, Rico Bogen won the IM 70.3 World Championship aboard his Ku’ TF1 and today Lars Lomholt takes the overall Ironman World Championship age-group victory on his TF1! The Energy Lab is one of only four Ku’ authorized fitters on the East Coast (and five in the entire US). If you’re located in the mid-Atlantic or northeast and are interested in a bike, head to in the greater Philadelphia area or in Rhode Island!
