Today we sampled some new stuff that we started carrying within the last few months.
Handmade sweet flatbread made with a hint of anise and extra virgin olive oil. Each flatbread is wrapped individually like a small sweet gift to present to yourself or guests.
Serve it with soft cheese, a spicy jam like we did or have it with tea or coffee.
We ❤️ NY and the SFA Fancy Food Show. We headed to the big apple and met some awesome people with some awesome food companies. We found some brands that we carry here in the store and caught up with the people behind them that we don’t get to see too often. We’re already looking forward to next year’s show!
We don't sell cheese, we eat cheese!
This is a goat cheese made in California, Cypress Grove.
Don't be fooled by the beautiful horizontal line in the center of the cheese, it's not blue cheese. It is something else that she explained to us using very big words but it adds to the taste, texture and appearence.
The blue is reminiscent of the fog in their area. It's so thoughtful to put that story into the cheese along with an amazing flavor.
Take note of the way they display the same cheese from young-ripe-mature.
She explained to us in such depth and passion that the west coast often will the see at the young stage and us East coast people see the cheese at the mature stage.
Its beautiful and tasty in each stage.
Tasting oil never gets old because every farm, family, soil, year, olive, olive blend, explanation and history is different.
We tasted some extra virgin olive oils that had olives I never heard of and were very rare. It was interesting to hear how Bona Furtuna is growing and producing an olive that was once almost gone.
The food show is not just about bringing new product to the store, it is about expanding on what we know and meeting new people.
*olive oil from Morocco
*olive oil from Italy
This is why we go to the food show:
We have been working with for about 10 years, maybe longer because we enjoy their selection, quality, customer service and appreciate their brand.
Our customers have always made it possible for us to keep this amazing brand in our store and stay current yet, keep the classics.
Earlier, we sampled some tasty new jams, aioli and sauce at the food show in NY.
We can't wait to bring the dill pickle aioli in along with the new squeeze bottle horseradish sauce.
It's the same product in a new package. Our customers love squeeze bottles because they are less messy, easy to use, share & they don't break if you drop it.
Look our for a restock within the next few weeks!
One of our favorite brands at our store and a steady staple for us at Olive Oil Etcetera
It's a rainbow of flavor featuring our re-stocked hummus we discovered a few months ago at the food show.
This hummus is made locally & naturally.
Open today until 6 pm
Stop by and give it a try
Left over salmon and quinoa inspired salad with olive oil and lemon juice dressing.
If you prefer a lighter olive oil in the summer we have Fruity olive oil which is a extra virgin olive oil from California. It is a perfect combination of arbosana and ascolano olives to make a smooth, flavorful olive oil.
Perfect for daily use.
Q: Why the name fruity?
A: Olives are fruit and this oil tastes very much like the olive fruit/oils.
Doylestown To Show Its Pride At Saturday Block Party The free event is part of Doylestown's Pride Festival, which continues through the end of the month.
Do you have a steak marinade you like?
I usually don't look them up as I just throw ingredients together but I did use this one here but modified based on ingredients we have at home.
Melt in your Mouth Steaks - Plain Chicken Melt in Your Mouth Steaks - Olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic, onion, rosemary, pepper, A1 Steak sauce, & Montreal Steak Seasoning
I know it's hot and sunny out but my one son asked for soup so in true mom fashion, I made soup.
The broth is made by simmering 2 split chicken breasts in water, a chopped tomato, a few peppercorns, bay leaves, salt, garlic cloves, a lil' curry powder, tumeric powder, onion powder & grated ginger.
Simmer, simmer, adding water to cover chicken.
I loosely cover the pot.
Take chicken out after it cooks and shred. Use a slotted spoon to take out loose pieces of peppercorn, bay leaves, etc...
Add into liquid:
Celery stalks -chopped
Carrots - chopped
Onions - chopped
Directions continued....cook veggies until done. Add chicken back into soup.
You can add rice, quinoa or any other ingredients you want.
Try adding different colors and spices to the soup.
I think it is so pretty, smells great in the house, tastes good and is healthier than some other options.
We hope you had a Happy & Healthy Juneteenth! We took some time to learn about the color Red and how it relates to Juneteenth. We also couldn't help to dive into food & drink inspiration for the day.
This article and recipe is from *Visitpa.com, "A traditional drink to serve at a Juneteenth celebration is Strawberry Soda. This drink along with other red foods and beverages symbolizes the bloodshed of the slaves, and pays homage to their sacrifice that led African Americans to the freedom that they have today."
INGREDIENTS
1 liter lemon lime soda
¼ lemon juice
Homemade strawberry syrup (see recipe below)
1 cup quartered strawberries
Sprigs of mint
Ice
STRAWBERRY SYRUP
1 cup of water
1 cup of sugar
1 cup quartered strawberries
In a saucepan add 1 cup of water, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 cup of quartered strawberries. Bring to to boil. Once boiled, lower heat and use a fork or muddler to smash strawberries. Bring to boil again for one minute and then remove from heat and cover for 10 minutes. Strain liquid into a container and put in fridge to cool.
STRAWBERRY SODA METHOD
Add lemon lime soda to a pitcher filled with ice and a ¼ cup of lemon juice. Add homemade strawberry syrup and quartered strawberries & sprigs of mint. Stir together and serve. *from Visitpa.com
