Here is a duck from silver lake up . For some reason all of the exotic animals show up for no matter, it's pretty up there ;) and ducks can be fun to shoot too ;)
No Osprey wanted to show themselves this morning but I did get a few good shots of this
Another shot with the and the back Coalter block building in Lander Wyoming. Home of the .
Also did some dry plates but haven't developed them yet
The mural advertisement on the side of this old gas station screamed grab out and the back and take the shot.

I'm a snek. A sneaky sneaky snek..
Things you find while in the desert for days on end. It didn't want to come out and say hello so I got a picture of his coils and let him be ;)
Prairie rattlesnake in case you couldn't tell
Sweaty, panicked and just lost its herd. This wild horse just broke free from the group that he was in and while the rest of them were pushed into the trap by the helicopter this one stayed free but now seems a bit lost.
On Assignment for
Final clean shot as he turned away - the hands came soon to chase him up a ravine and back down till finally after what would be 45 minutes and more than 3 miles they put him out of his misery on the other side of a ridge out of view (video is on my website if you want a better feel). On Assignment for Lady Freethinker .
Friday I leave for the North Lander Complex Wild Horse Gather, near Lander Wy. and will try to post while I am out there.
It was hard to tell what was wrong, but quickly his left rear leg injury became apparent. With a 1000mm lens, hot weather and almost a mile distant it takes a minute to see what is going on but when you do... sigh. On Assignment for Lady Freethinker .

After hopping the rails of the trap in a cloud of dust, he stops and takes a look back for what will be his last view of his family. On Assignment for Lady Freethinker .

As I prep for next week's horse gather in Lander Wy, I think back to the traps where the horses are first captured, specifically this one where a stallion broke free with disastrous consequences for the stallion. On Assignment for Lady Freethinker .

The warm glow of a fox kit in the morning sun
Not going to lie, it was so much fun watching these two cuddle just outside of their den.
Its Monday, and baby Red fox understands how hard it is to make it through Monday without hiding.
Oh yeah... there are many baby fox pictures to come :)
Huge Vistas everywhere, as your brain tries to take it all in, invariably focus falls to smaller scenes.

While out with the large format camera the was along for the ride. even hosts a few furry friends like this who was the first picture of the entire trip :)
Continued tintypes on my this time the side of the road in the and take a couple of tintype images. Some worked well, some struggled with exposure (I really should have done test shots with the new emulsion). I love the feel of this process, from pouring the plates to the time it takes to set up each shot on the large format camera to developing. All too often the images we see are so edited to make them perfect and with a direct positive tintype you get what you get.
Final Bryce shot

When you look close the eyes of these bison remind me of my dog Temujin, she always looks like she is on the verge of a nervous breakdown, fight or flight is just a moment away at any time.
Not sure that the Bison are all that happy about photographers just pointing their long lenses at them... or maybe they have RBF and I shouldn't take it personal
The symbiotic nature of Bison and birds. As the bison stir up the ground the bugs start scurrying around and the birds hang out for a treat. They also enjoy eating the bugs that happen to try to make a home on the Bison so they are often perched on the backs of these awesome creatures like little sentinels.
I SHALL BITE YOUR BEHIND!!!!!
As the sun started to warm so too did the and they put on a good show. Last Friday I got to spend the morning with my wife and take some pictures of wild horses doing their thing. This time I wasn't watching them get rounded up and was just a bit more fun than that
