GoodLife Integrative Veterinary Care
Integrative veterinary care with services including: acupuncture, laser therapy, chinese herbs, chiropractic, rehabilitation, hospice, and end of life care
We hosted a yoga class trial in July and everyone brought their own dogs.
If we had yoga sessions that started and ended with doggie playtime, would you be interested?
It was fun!!
Shadow received acupuncture for his birthday!
Acupuncture for dogs has so many benefits. It can:
- manage chronic pain
- balance the nervous system
- speed healing after injury or surgery
- increase circulation
- decrease pain
- and so much more!
Acupuncture is a great complement to traditional veterinary care and is often part of our treatment plans for canine rehab, surgery care, and preventative care.
What's the difference between fitness at GoodLife and dog daycare services?
We get asked this questions a lot!
Here are a few differences that can help you choose what may be right for your dog.
We also encourage you to reach out to us and to the daycare businesses you're interested in, to ask questions and help you make an informed decision.

Benefits of the Underwater Treadmill for Dogs:
πΎ Decreases pressure on joints
πΎ Reduces pain Increase strength
πΎ Increases joint range of motion
πΎ Conditioning & weight loss
Most dogs love their underwater treadmill sessions for fitness OR rehab because the tepid water is soothing to the body and allows for buoyancy while a pet gains strength or recovers from an injury or surgery.

Many people ask me (Dr. Katie) if euthanizing animals is the worst part of my job.
In many cases β yes, this is a difficult service to provide, but it is also an honor and a privilege for me to take part in the last moments a family or person has with their pet.
The decision to put down a pet is a very difficult one to make, and having been through it myself several times with my own animals, I understand the raw feelings that come with letting go of a beloved friend.
Being able to provide this service in the petβs home is very important to me. The procedure is less stressful for both the owner and the pet, and time can be taken to discuss the process and spend time with the animal after the procedure.
Consultations can be made to discuss quality of life and make informed decisions about end of life care. Cremation services can also be arranged following the procedure.
Reach out to us if you have any questions. We'll be here for you.
Cooper loves fitness classes!
Here at GoodLife we focus on modalities and treatments that enhance the lives of our furry friends.
Fitness classes are mentally stimulating, strength and agility building, and good for just about any dog of any age or breed.
The bonus is that fitness classes give you, the pet parent, some training in how to work with your dog at home. It's just one more way you can interact with your canine companion.
Thank you, Danielle, for this excellent feedback!
What's your favorite thing to do with your dog during the summer?
Jeni asked a few of our staff and they said hike, camp, and kayak!
Moose said his favorite summer activity was the occasional treat ;)
We agree, Moose, we agree!
Recently, Kat and Terri hosted Safe Haven, a local rescue, and gave a group of volunteers some basic fitness skills to be able to work with dogs in their care.
We had a blast and it sounds like they did too!
Knowing the commands and movement patterns used in basic fitness training can help pet owners and volunteers work with dogs in a way that supports their overall health, maintains or grows strength in the body, and stimulates the mind.
Just as this group...fitness can be FUN!
Let's go Tango! πͺπ»πͺπ»πͺπ»
Kayla is working hard to become a Certified Rehabilitation Technician and helping to grow our rehab program.
We appreciate all of her hard work and can't wait to see what she learns!!!
Let's show Kayla some love today...Drop your favorite emoji!
Tucker has worked SO HARD and so has his mom. πΎπ
When we met him, he had pain and weakness, and now he is having great days.
Our team is so proud of the progress that Tucker has made!!!
Fun fact: Tucker recently chased a bear out of his yard. How's that for feeling great?!
We think Tucker's smiling about this. What do you think?
Dr Katie is currently enrolled in a course about Integrative Oncology, we can't wait to see how she helps more dogs with her knowledge!
Hands up if you love Dr. Katie and Goodlife! π«Άπππ€π€ππ«Ά
We see a very familiar face! Gloria Ann
Person who makes a difference: Retired vet donates time to local animal rescue GALENA, Ill. β When Gloria Esbensen retired from her job as a feline veterinarian, she knew she hadnβt seen the last of the furry creatures.
I went for a hike today to recharge my battery. It's been a little bit of a heavy week as we said goodbye to one of our OG rehab dogs. Saying goodbye to these friends always puts me in a space of gratitude for my work and also the animals that surround me. But also, we get so sad.
πΎ
We wipe our tears and hug our dogs extra. We go for longer hikes and rest in the water because it makes them happy. We let them chase the bunnies and deer. We don't get upset when they are full of burrs (again). Then we go back to work because the dogs need us.
πΎ
This job is hard. This job is so rewarding and then it's hard again. So we go on more hikes, hug our dogs, and repeat the process.
πΎ
There was a blue jay feather in the middle of the trail today, which is highly symbolic for me that things will be okay and that I'm on the right path. And just now, Ben brought me a random jump drive and asked to look at the pictures. One of the first that popped up was of Titan shortly before we said see ya later. Gosh universe, I'm paying attention, but thank you always for the reminders.
πΎ
Always grateful, and always giving extra pets.
Here's a sweet story...
First, have you seen our Good Dog Wall?
All of the dogs on this wall either brought someone important to us or taught us a valuable lesson.
We want to introduce them!
Let's start with Phoenix.
When Dr. Katie met Phoenix, she was immobile. That's right, she couldn't move!
She fought through her injuries with the help of Dr. Katie and was then adopted by Kat, who has continued to help her immensely and love her dearly.
Thank you Phoenix for introducing us to Kat β€
Can we get some β€β€ for Phoenix in the comments?!

The full story...
"It was late in the day when we determined our dog was in dire need of veterinarian services, and most likely euthanasia.
We called our vet but they wouldn't see our ailing best friend until the following morning.
Unfortunately, we didn't have that kind of time.
We took a chance and called Goodlife.
It was both the best and hardest decision we've ever had to make, but one we don't regret.
The receptionist who answered the call was amazing on so many levels.
Dr. Katie agreed to come to our home on short notice, despite it being at the end of her workday. She was at our home within the hour.
Her level of professionalism and compassion was second to none and made the situation a little less painful.
Our (now former) vet could learn a lot from her.
If we decide to bless ourselves with another dog, we hope Dr.Katie will accept us as a client.
If you're having any doubt about seeking her services - you can stop now.
Make the call.
THANK YOU Dr. Katie and staff!"
We were honored to work with you during your time of loss. Thank you for taking a chance and trusting us.
Dr. Katie's end of life care is compassionate and above-and-beyond.

KT Tape (or kinesiology tape) is for dogs too!
You may have experienced this tape for yourself if you had a physical therapist or massage therapist apply it to a tense area of your body. Or, you've likely seen your favorite athlete taped up for the big game.
The benefits of KT Tape for dogs are numerous. It can help:
-stabilize an area that's healing from injury
-support muscles and joints
-relieve pain
-support posture
-decrease inflammation
-speed healing
-and more!
Dr. Katie uses Rock Tape (another name for KT Tape) for dogs that are receiving rehabilitation modalities at GoodLife.
Have you or your dog used KT Tape?
Here we have a photo of our very own Dr. Katie modeling the use of our big window!
From here, you can take a peek at the dogs in the underwater treadmills or see what's happening in the fitness area.
We also love how this window opens up the space between the reception area and the "work" area of GoodLife, while still providing a separation and noise barrier between the two.
We've got openings for fitness + uwt sessions. Feel free to DM or call us for more information and to book your a spot for your dog.
Have you heard about Jope?
