The City of Duluth in partnership with Duluth Public Arts Commission (DPAC) and Stormwater Management Division is requesting artists interested in creating unique designs and installing permanently painted artwork on two different storm drains in the City of Duluth.

The Life’s Works of Kathryn Andrews Fincher -- A retrospective of Kathy Fincher's world renowned paintings -- An extensive collection of paintings, sculptures & more!

There are four incredible new exhibitions opening at the Hudgens in November! Here's a rundown of what's coming:
"The Life’s Works of Kathryn Andrews Fincher" - A retrospective of Kathy Fincher's world reknowned paintings (Pictured). On display in the Fowler Gallery November 8th - January 25th.
"The Ceramic Works of Michelle Laxalt" - Functional and abstract ceramic works from this great artist. On display in the Kister Atrium November 9th - January 25th.
"Brush and Gouge: the Woodcuts and Paintings of Kent Ambler" - A rising star in the art community, whose woodcut prints have been highly acclaimed. On display in the Johnnie Rowe Promenade November 9th - January 18th.
"The 14th Annual Hudgens Center Juried Members Show" - A juried group show of artwork by members of The Hudgens Center. On display in the Georgia Gallery November 9th - January 25th.

DFAL members were busy last week!! After the fun night at members' showcase on Wednesday, a small group of friends gathered on Saturday Oct 19 for a delicious brunch at Magnolia Cottage in downtown Duluth. Afterwards we took a short drive to visit Bitzel's Chocolate in Suwanee where we enjoyed some chocolates and gelatos while exploring the beautiful shop/factory and seeing the chocolate-making process surrounded by glass walls. We also had an opportunity to converse with executive chef/chocolatier George Foley who regaled us with his informative stories of travel, chocolate and food!
Many thanks to Jean Harrivel, Beth Palmer, and Kathy Booth who are the dedicated organizers of these extra special social events/artsy smartsy outings.

It was another fantastic and fun evening at DFAL Members' Showcase last Wednesday, Oct 16, at Gwen Tajz Wine Bar! So many talented artists/creators in one place!! Lots of exciting conversations and genuine appreciation during the event. Here are just a few example of the amazingly beautiful items being exhibited.

October DFAL Members Showcase
The annual showcase will be on October 16th at 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Gwen Tajz Wine Bar (in lieu of the regular monthly meeting at the Duluth Festival Center).

Set up will be between 5:30 and 6:15 pm. Space is limited, each artist/participant is invited to bring 4 or 5 items that would fit on a small table.
