ALWAYS place a spoon (ideally sterling silver as it conducts heat the best) into your cup before pouring in a hot liquid. Otherwise this could happen to you! The spoon absorbs some of the heat. It’s also a good idea to let your tea or coffee cool off a bit too.

Made a quick run into the shop today to add the following...
-Another set of Pyrex nesting bowls.
-A set of Winston Ware dishes made by Johnson Brothers.
-More pottery including a small unsigned jardiniere on pedestal/stand.
-Some small souvenir stoneware pieces
-Some Fenton glass.
-A large selection of Jadeite by Fire King in the Jane Ray pattern.

-A yellow MC 1960s yellow Blendo/West Virginia Glass Juice set.

Even though I shouldn't I may try and sneak down that way myself next week after the Junk Hunt on Friday at the D.E.C.C.

When the ground-breaking Desert Rose pattern by Franciscan premiered in 1941, it was a distinctly American contrast to traditional European bone China. The gamble paid off-Desert Rose would go on to become one of the largest selling casual tableware patterns in the history of dinnerware.

I always strive to ensure a generous selection of Desert Rose pieces are available to sell at Father Time Antiques; as well as, the popular Apple pattern by Franciscan.

It's that time once again...our friends at Haupt Antiek Market are open this week, starting Thursday, for your shopping pleasure.

Wow!! Just spent the last 40 minutes, in the rain, unpacking the Mankato pick.

I want to first of all pay tribute to my dear friend Colleen Emanuel who I fiest met now almost 15 years ago and sold out of Old Town Antiques in Mankato with my mom and I until the store closed in 2017. It's a bitter sweet moment for Colleen as she calls it quitting time with the antique business. Colleen is the daughter of the former owners of McDonalds Interiors in Mankato.

Second, I am overwhelmed with the amount of inventory I have received and it will be a gradual process to get all of this into the shop. As I start to move items into Father Time Antiques, I will keep my customers updated. Hoping to have time this summer to focus on the antique business. There may even be a show or two this year to sell out of.

With that, van is due.

I have been working this week to prepare new merchandise to get moved into Father Time Antiques. I attended a great rummage sale today and purchased several English Cup and Saucer sets, salt and pepper shakers, the large Bob White Red Wing popcorn bowl, vintage linens, vintage hankies, and a first for me...a Parker Brothers Ouija Board.

Tomorrow, I travel down to Mankato to pick up the 4th and final round of Antiques from my friend Colleen who is giving up the antique business for good.

So many great items already from these picks are in the shop and clearly more will be coming in, in good time.

My friend Jenny Watson last year let me know about this page and I am always impressed with what this guy is able to use/do with Depression Glass. Look at this wonderful table setting that he was able to create using Depression Glass and not just Depression Glass...Fenton, Hazel Atlas Glass, Cambridge, etc.

Good Afternoon Friends!
Made a quick trip down to Mankato yesterday to pick the inventory of a friend and former antique dealer from Old Town Antiques. Filled a car full and I'll be working on getting that merchandise into the shop this week.

Time to, finally, move out the Christmas on our main display case and time to move in the Springtime and Easter merchandise that we have.

Pictures show vintage advertising pieces, Beatrix Potter and Bunnykins, pink depression glass, green glass, cup and saucer sets, and vintage cardboard easter egg containers.

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a few lots of various items from an auction house in the Twin Cities including the pair of glass deer that you see here, which were included a lot of misc. glassware. I knew the deer were special items; however, I didn't know anything about them.

Yesterday, as I prepared a fresh round of merchandise to bring into the antique shop this weekend, I completed a Google Image Search of the two deer. I was astonished by the results...the two glass deer that you see here are 1920's German Hand Blown Art Glass Christmas Ornaments and worth significantly more than what I was going to price the pair at.

The tools that are available to the modern antique dealer, and indeed buyer as well, helped me in discovering the true nature of these items.
