BPI is introducing its Composting Microgrants program to boost food scrap initiatives that use compostable products. The program offers grants ranging from $500 to $5,000 to support projects that enhance best practices, expand food waste collection, and improve composting processes. Our Director of Market Development & Commercial Sales, Kylie, had to honor of moderating California Municipalities Case Study: Insights from Organics Collection Programs at this year's BPI Summit. This summit ensures collaboration to build a successful system for food scraps diversion that includes compostable products and packaging.

Our Community Hero of the Month, NOPE Compost, gets busy during their weekly runs. The team diverts around 100,000 pounds, or 50 TONS, of food scraps on a weekly basis.

"We started as a family business with father and son team Chip & Marshall Hall starting operations in 2009. After learning about the numerous environmental impacts of composting, the two realized there was an unmet need for food scrap collection services in Virginia."

This time last week! It was great supporting Urban Canopy at the DNC.

We love seeing composting communities beyond our borders! Our President visited Sergio and his sisters, of Kambieco Compost. They come from a family of educators and serve 1000 families in Puebla and Cholula through drop offs at area schools. Way to go!

Witnessing transformations in the community is what this Community Hero, MakeSoil, is all about.

As Josh began to master the art of making soil, they were all amazed to see how every sort of organic matter turning back into rich, living soil. "I'm still in awe of the transformations I saw in people as they began to participate in the composting process. It was the simplest thing I had ever done that yielded so much benefit."

Love working with Republic Services and California Resource Recovery Association to compost food scraps at this year's CRRA show. California Resource Recovery Association is dedicated to achieving environmental sustainability in and beyond California through Zero Waste strategies including product stewardship, waste prevention, reuse, recycling, and composting.
